Looks pretty good so far I think. Better than the shitty Matthew Broderick version anyway. But the trailers for that version made it look amazing and look how it turned out.

This trailer does it make it look like a very generic, boring modern blockbuster. I'm not writing it off just yet, though, because Gareth Edwards debut feature was fantastic. Jumping up from a $500,000 indie film to a $160 million special effects extravaganza is quite a step, though, so there's every chance he could fuck it up.

But it can't be as bad as Godzilla 2000 or Godzilla (1998) right? Right?

Yes it was. The original is a masterpiece. Fiercely political, startlingly bleak and with probably the strongest anti-nuclear statement of any film, it holds up incredibly well today.

Yeah I totally want to want to watch this, It looks like it has the right amount of suspense to be believable in modern context. Though the older Godzilla films had there charm to.
