People don't want to get involved in problems. When I was in middle school I helped my friend out when he was getting bullied (getting the crap beaten out of him) and I got suspended for a week for being involved. That's how it is in the judicial system too.

And many want to avoid confrontation and would rather not get involved in somebody else's business. Especially because it's not always real or a big deal.

I think we tend to think we are better than we are.
If I am honest I most likely would avoid confrontation though I'd like to say I'd stick up for someone. In most cases I'd likely gtfo as quick as possible.
The milgram experiments however I think I'd resist. Blindly following authority was never my thing.

the 'experiment' looks real. i am not surprised that a lot of people in this video did not take action.

and it is not just bullying. nowadays people seem to be less willing to help a victim, especially if the victim is a complete stranger.

i remember a local news article about a woman who accidentally fell into the sea. she was struggling to stay afloat while the bystanders just stood there and watch.

perhaps the witnesses in the video do not want to get into trouble, or they simply do not know how to act, or....

I think most people are cowards. If you would do nothing to help someone else in trouble then you deserve no help yourself.

Not only would I have done something but I have jumped in to help people in the past and have made friends that way too. To those who wouldn't do anything, go ahead and say no one would do it just because you wouldn't, coward. It'll be funny when you get jumped and no one helps you. Or do you never leave the safety of your room?

I'm not assuming that because I think people on newgrounds are weak, not at all, I'm assuming so because of the fact that you don't have to be weak to not intervene.

You'd figure the people who don't want the US military intervening in bully fights across the world would be the same people who are against intervening in random altercations.

I'm referring to the people who didn't want the US stopping the syrian government from killing its own citizens

Massively simplified 'solution' to this problem. Also in this specific example, the guy getting picked on is doing nothing to defend himself, so if you were a lone bystander, you'd assume that by stepping in it would be a 1v1 between you and the bully and I doubt many people taken by surprise in this situation would want that.
