legend of zelda mmorpg 2013-12-07 19:58:03 Reply

i was thinking that the legend of zelda has so many awsome items weapons monsters and bosses a nice mmorpg would really shine in the zelda universe setting and of couse nintendo would be there to suck up the monny.

now i see two ways that the story could fit togather

1.have it so you do not play as zelda or link but as someone who lives in between the different reancarnations of link and zelda and must fend for themselfes and possably keep the evil forces from preventing there reancarnation this would enable more customization but wouldent feel like zelda and possablly be abit more generic

or

2. you do play as link or zelda but your in a spirit world and everyone is basically a link or zelda from a different time they were alive which given how reancarnation works does lend its self to an infinite supply of links and zeldas through out the ages as who is to say that the reancarnations in the games are the only ones to exist . this methed also has the advantage of being able to use a normal zelda story line for people to play but its harder to make enough mmorpg stoyry lines in a zelda type story

the game itself would have numeras items from all the games as well as some origanal

before any one says it wont work cause zelda is a single player i just wanna say the world of war craft was was based on an old 1 player called warcraft:orcs and humans plus its 2 sequals and its THE biggest/most populair mmorpg in the world im aware of

My brother and I were just discussing this yesterday and we came to the conclusion that this wouldn't make a good MMORPG. We can't all play as Link and if we do then a bunch of Link's running around would be weird. Also which art style? Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, or go retro? Too many decisions that would disappoint too many people no matter what.

well i dont think it would work in 3d cause this is a really sand box-y idea so in a 2d top veiw type i think being able to use multiable styles for character customization would be a safe call and using it happining in a spiret realm would help with the continuity problums

It will never happen.

And that is a good thing.

You haven't explained how gameplay would work, therefore I can't really say much other than it's a terrible idea.

Can you please go into more detail? Because at the moment I have no idea how this would work.

Nintendo is a company and therefore seeks profit.

However, it also has principles and it won't violate them. This keeps them from becoming as big as Sony or Microsoft (in the console market) but it also keeps them synonymous with almost universally acclaimed first party titles.

There aren't many companies where I buy every game they make.

Nintendo is one of them. Along with Blizzard, Rockstar North, Naughty Dog, Bethesda, Valve, and a few small Indie groups.

Nintendo would *never* compromise itself by cashing in on Zelda in this way. Say what you want about Zelda games. (and irrational haters will say pretty much anything) but each one has been a masterpiece. Even the ones I didn't like (like Skyward Sword)

Here's a little tip: Just taking some franchise you like and slapping MMO on the end makes a viable game about .1% of the time and generally shows nothing but that you have little to no understanding of what makes great game great and shitty games suck.

GraalOnline seems to want to be a zelda mmorpg.
Spiral Knights is also somewhat Zelda inspired.

But I really don't see LoZ being an MMO, The best you can expect is 4 swords.

I'm not sure but i'd be quite something.
Just need people who really want it to be a thing and there you go it's there but, of course no one will.
