When I joined, he was just 24 and the place was massive and really successful.
What have you accomplished?

I think I was playing a game called Daggerfall around that time to care about anything.

To be fair, the internet was a lot simpler at the time.

Yeah, I remember back when the site was slow because of all those pop up ads. I was going to sign in at late 2001 but there was some issues that kept me from doing so.
Only thing I really did accomplished was driving Xito (a notorious anti-American review troll) out of the site.

I haven't achieved too much, really. The internet was a simple place when NG first cropped up.

My artwork is the 4th thing that shows up on google image for "abobo" and the 101th for "pixel"... but still 4th for "pixel poster"!!!
We did have the #1 spot on Newgrounds for a good while too before the system glitched out and threw a bunch of the top submissions randomly off the top.
Hm. Yeah that's pretty much it for 10 years.

And I know of someone who was only 15 when he made his own operating system. But different people do have different lives/backgrounds/etc so in a way it's not really fair to say just because x-aged person did y that all x-aged people should have done y. There are too many variables.
In Tom Fulp's case, I say good for him! In the case of the 15 year old who made his own operating system, I say good for him! In the case of the German student who solved a previously unsolved mathematical problem, I say good for him! And so forth.
But you can't expect everyone to excel in the same ways nor is it fair to hold the same standards for everyone if you set those standards too high. Otherwise everyone is a failure who hasn't created their own highly successful website, solved previously unsolved mathematical problems that even computer simulators couldn't solve, created their own operating system, composed highly sophisticated music, and so on by the age of 17 just because in any of those cases you can find someone who has.

I finally understood there's more to porn than NG's naughty games.
Pretend not to care about anything, but be bothered by everything.
You may be fast on the roads but it's no use on the track.

A lot of stuff. Finding true love is one. I wouldn't trade that for anything else in the world.

I've made a bit of money, started a company, designed two things that I plan to patent, set up a plan for how I want to use the next decade of my life (two years ago). I spent most of my time learning some basic skills that can be applied in a broad range of interests.
You are measuring @TomFulp's success by how many people he reached out and built a community with, and at a young age. When judging our own accomplishments down the road, how would we figure out when we've come to equal or surpass Tom? Or anyone, really? How do you measure yourself up to Nelson Mandela, Bill Gates, or Andrew Carnegie?

Absolutely nothing at all.
I have made zero impact on this site. In fact, if I were to leave the site right now and never come back, no one would even notice my absence. It'll be like I never even existed on this site.
Just chillin' like always.

You look nice today.

Also I signed up on here when I was 17. And Tom was what. 32?
I just realized that Tom is 15 years older than me.....
