One hell of a life that he lived. RIP.
Rest in Peace, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.
18 July 1918 Mvezo, South Africa — 5 December 2013 20:50 Houghton, South Africa.
Rolihlahla, Xhosa for Troublemaker
He fought for what the people wanted. He will be missed.
Dark Souls consumed my life.
Nelson Mandela was a great man, thrown into prison for planning to terrorize and blow up government buildings. What a great man.
I've no doubt that Nelson Mandela had good intentions and I don't claim to understand his VERY questionable means to a very noble and just end. I'd just like to point out he was no saint, and he'd be the first to admit it. That said, I'm not entirely sure if I'm sad or apathetic about his death.
On the one hand he WAS a terrorist, but on the other hand unlike say Al-Qaeda, Mandela and his boys had good intentions. At the same time, despite acknowledging his extreme and downright ruthless actions which are conveniently glossed over to simplify history into a black and white (no pun intended) battle of "Good and Evil" and make a flawless godlike hero of the man. (To be fair, as I said before his idolization is completely against his will and he himself knew he was a flawed man.)
Anyone who idolizes or demonizes great historical figures is a complete moron, IMO. They might be great, but they're men, not gods or devils.

I hope this doesn't seem inappropriate but I want this shirt so bad. So much 90s glory.
Good he turned that country into a shithole regardless.

Why does it show the whole continent of Africa when he is only relevant in South Africa?

Most idiots think Africa's a country, that's why.

I went to South Africa once, and learned all about this guy
May he rest in peace

yep, i've observed high school classes in South Africa and children of around ~15 years aren't even aware Mandela was a terrorist. not only that, but they learn about the atrocities white people committed during apartheid every single year of their school life as part of the curriculum, i'm not really an expert on the education system in SA but to be taught about that subject every year and to actually live in the country without truly knowing what Mandela did says a lot about the new government.
at least there's no racial segregation lol lol.

Get this agitator out of here!
R.I.P. Nelson Mandela.
You'll be forever remembered for all you did.
Whether it was what you deemed as "good" or what others consider bad.

Calling out someone who supported genocide is not edgy, lol.

Never heard of the African National Congress before? They pretty much take pride in their African heritage which was a uniting factor for them at the time against Apartheid. Speaking of Apartheid, much of the world condemned South Africa for Apartheid, (except for Israel and Japan) but the white government at the time were strongly anti-communist, so they they still supported them on a technical level. Let's just say that the whole thing is much more complicated than it looks.
While Mandela was the face of the anti-Apartheid movement, and justifiably so, it was a white president, (F.W de Klerk) that initiated the anti-Apartheid legislation in the early 90s, but most people seem to overlook that. To be fair, he basically wanted Mandela to be the face of the new South Africa, especially with the free elections in the early 90s.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.
Nelson Mandela was an effete snob.

White AFC members singing a song called "Kill the Boer" because they know it's an anti-apartheid chant and not a literal call to genocide.

He did do a lot of bad things, but if you know anything about his other accomplishments you should understand why he left a very different legacy lol (hint: there used to be this thing in South Africa called apartheid)

Israel was never against South Africa's apartheid? That is not surprising!
