most girls toys also arent new concepts most are rehashes from the 80's (and not the good part of the 80's) and earlier if you simply look at someone acient vhs's from there child hood you will see comercials for the same toy you just yesterday either on tv or in your kids/younger siblings toy catalog a few minutes ago.

in conclussion girls toys suck if they sucked any harder they would have to name the next new barbie worn out old toothless whore barbie

What's with the recent uprise of making girl dolls as ridiculous as possible? It's not like we hear enough bitching about the Barbie dolls having unrealistic proportions, but now we've got those Bratz dolls with their giant heads, overinflated lips, and toeless flippers for feet. Sad buy true. The fact that I can buy a girls toy which is essentially a mini ironing board is depressing beyond belief. Any parent who'd buy that for their daughter while getting a mini science set for their son is really not letting their little girl know that the skys the limit.

As a child I HATED the color pink. Like looking at it made me feel ill. My favorite colors were green and blue and black. I played with Hot Wheels and legos and barbies too. I wanted nerf guns so bad every christmas. Guess who got them instead of me? Brother and male cousin, that's who.

The whole "girls want to be mommies" and "boys just want to destroy things" thing is harmful to everyone. It reinforces violent and overly submissive behaviors from the time when children are young and incredibly impressionable. Many of these parents who are guilty of this simply don't care or are in denial about the fact that during early childhood, they are the main factor shaping their child's behavior.

Sure, there's nothing wrong with a little girl pretending to cook or a little boy using his Godzilla action figure to destroy Tokyo, but when you limit the scope of their experiences to these things and it's reinforced by what they see at home, at others' homes, and on television then you are likely to create a very unbalanced individual.

The nature vs. nurture debate is a moot point in this day and age. We know very well how important your learned experiences are. There is no excuse.

I agree with you 100%. The boys with gunplay items is just as damaging. The toy companies need to stop segregating children when it comes to playtime. My nephew won't even play a female character with his Skylander set, yet for girls its the opposite still where male characters out number females at an alarming rate so they have little option to if they want to play video games and a lot of them do, no one in the business wants to recognise it though.

This is what disappoints me so badly about lego now.

Lego USED to be gender neutral then they started focusing on sets that would generally interest boys more (not that I had a problem with it, give me their 90s pirate ships anyday) now they have this Lego 'Friends' stuff which is made up of purple, pinks and yellow bricks, bigger doll like lego characters and with sets which include stables, cafes, pet shops, sporty convertible cars.

They couldn't be saying any clearer that that type of lego is for girls and the regular lego that we all know and love is going to be further focused towards boys and what the company considers their interests. I'd be surprised in the future if you see anymore regular houses or town sets released as a normal lego set. They will just consider that girls stuff now, make it a 'friends' set and the city sets will literally just be more action-y stuff they feel that boys only need as if boys shouldn't play with sets that encourage healthy normal households.
