After dropping out of highschool my sophomore year I got my GED and attended college. Three semesters later I dropped out of that too. I have never really cared about school and only went because it was a necessity. However after working and earning money I decided that i didn't want a career. Im quite happy earning a decent pay at a job that doesn't eat up much of my time. So my life plan at the moment is to provide for myself and spend my free time enjoying life. I may head back too college in the future I may not. Either way for the time being im happy and thats my little story.
Anyone else wanna share?
P.S. Fuck commas.

I once knew a man that dropped out of highschool.
His name: Neil deGrasse Tyson
I have too much pride to do that, as much as I'm hating college right now. Then again I haven't really found a major yet so I guess it's just lack of motivation for now.

You don't need a college education to succeed, although it can help immensely.
College is where mindless saps go to buy their middle class ticket and lose their chance at an exciting life by instead trading it for 4 years of delusional alcohol fueled self indulgence followed by a lifetime of desk labor, bad marriages, ungrateful children, and weight gain.

I'd go for HVAC. That shit is cash.
There are plenty of people who make a successful living without going to college, You really just have to develope your own profession.
There's plenty of self taught professionals in the art world, who simply didn't have school, or much work to worry about, and spent all their free time animating, drawing, you name it.
Now they're skill level is high enough to excede industry standards and set new ones.

Who says he was going to get a bachelor's degree? Who says he was majoring in desk-jobology? I don't think you actually know much about the variety of higher education available to us. Maybe he was studying culinary arts, nursing, law enforcement, psychology, or maybe he was actually attending art school to get his degree in bullshitology.
Community college is making me beyond fucking miserable and I'm probably stuck here for another 4 semesters, but I legitimately would not know what to do with myself if I dropped it. I hate my fucking job twice as much as I hate school so I vomit at the thought of filling that void with more hours.
That said, the thought of transferring to Temple U, taking a semester in Japan, and becoming a mechanical engineer is what keeps me going. In the case of education, the end always justifies the means.
You could seriously just do something vocational on a 6-12 month training program where you start around $15 USD hourly and go up from there.
Welding, plumbing, HVAC, automotive, CDL job etcetera
But you could also live your life freely without planning and do just fine too.

What a waste of money. You could have at least held out and got a bachelor's or something.

I'm in my second year of college, and it's my first semester in a community college. I was away at a private university last year and I hated it even more but I'm almost completely sure it's because I went to possibly the worst fit, or the school just sucks period. One of my friends went to Temple University.
I was also a mechanical engineering major and didn't like it, I only liked the math part, hence why I'm a math major I guess. But if the thought of a high wage keeps you going then keep at it man. I'd personally rather do something I enjoy and get less for it than do something I hate and get paid more.

You can find better jobs, especially mechanical or trade jobs.
Please don't go fast food; that's the bottom of the barrel.
(and deserves to be at the bottom; the product they serve is shit. Literally, it is shit)
Skynet is upon us.

The wage is nice, but I chose the field out of passion. I wanna design cars.
And yeah, I've heard a lot of horror stories about people who went away to a college they ended up hating. Like I said, you just gotta consider the end justifying the means.

I have never and will never work in fast food. At the moment i'm working as a waiter, the money is good and the hours are short. I'm also working on getting my CDL license. Fuck fast food, just seriously, fuck it.

Not going to college doesn't automatically mean you work in catering and fast food. I never went and I work in demolition and earth moving, and get paid pretty generously for it too.
College is good if you want to work at a job that requires educational training, otherwise it's a complete and utter waste of time money and resources.
So much hate at the original poster's life choice.
I would say you're not qualified to hate on that decision unless all of the following are met:
a) You already have at least one college degree of bachelors level or higher.
b) You are making more money than OP.
c) You have all college loans completely paid off or have subtracted that amount from income and still make more money
d) You are happier than OP.
This disqualifies most of you because:
a) If you're still a student you still haven't earned that degree and as much as you think you know what you're talking about, you don't know what you're talking about. Prove you can earn your degree first.
b) A college degree doesn't guarantee higher wages.
c) All that college debt is coming out of your wages sooner or later so hope you get a good paying job.
d) Are you really that happy with what you do? Really?
If you use "salty" for anything other than salinity, I will instantly think less of you.
This food is salty. -- acceptable | Why are you salty at me? -- *facepalm*

Yeah I was kinda being like some of those people who rip on those who dont get a college education.
College isn't for everyone.
I'll be perfectly happy working a simple job and taking a couple classes a semester and earning an AS (possibly transfer to an Uni after). Doing full time of school work makes me irritable and I start to hate myself as the semester goes on...
