By "against background checks" I'm guessing you mean "against universal background checks". Universal background checks would mean that I'd have to get a background check to receive a gun from my own father as a gift, and they solve nothing.

Not that it'd be the end of the world if they were implemented, but it'd be inconvenient for absolutely no gain (school shooters could still find access to guns so long as they're around).

I think, as human, we are all introduced to each other at a terrible age. We haven't learned respect, self-control, discipline, etc.. we're just out of diapers, and suddenly crammed into a school with a bunch of other kids. How can an individual even get a clear concept of his or her identity?

They tell you never to talk to strangers, and then shove you into a classroom full of them. They tell you to keep your mouth shut. Then they criticize you for not having much to say. They teach you all wrong, and then judge you for not getting it right. Fucking adults are stupid.

I think we need to pay closer attention to the psychological state of children, but it's so difficult to do.
At first glance, you can't tell which kid has a problem. Speaking from experience I didn't get psychological help until I decided to do it myself, since I basically hid it and even my parents didn't know. They were attentive parents too.

Even if we had enough dedicated people to put some sort of system in place to screen for problem children you'd have a hell of a hard time figuring out which ones are going to shoot up schools. It's such a tough problem to solve, but I feel like it needs to begin with psychological study.
