In most cases, the fore ground is more dark and gradually goes to a lighter color to the back.
Same goes for saturation, more in the foreground, less in the background. ;)

Right well a new style for me as i have been asked to do flash cards ( prompts) for small children for different objects and animals here is a rough of the style they will be in. I may also add line work but looking for any input into how or what style to do that in to make it clear.

God damn. You have really made my paint-deficit a more agonizing reality. You've got some solid understandings of things I can't even conceive yet. Thank you for fueling my muse.

I very Very rarely use a post to just say what they said. But on this occasion I can't pass up the opportunity to agree exactly with what Slippery Nipple said. I feel the same and would have said something meaning the same thing, but would have never have thought of writing it in that way. So I thank you both for increasing my yearn to learn :D
Thanks,

These have a nice look to them. The style is very similar to Eric Carle's work. If you don't know him, look up his work! I'm sure his stuff would be helpful if you're looking for inspiration!
Thanks very much,
the client said that they liked the style of Eric Carle and wanted something similar so that would explain that, good spot
something old thought id just keep this thread alive.
