I thought they had but I'm still seeing everything from this to zombie-themed guns to ads for a zombie run at my campus. About the latter, I never heard or saw any trace of its existence after the flyer was taped to my door so I'm really wondering how many people actually went (hint: not very many).
If you were thinking about making something zombie themed plz think of something more original (unless it's just for your personal gratification) cause idea is as tired and dead as... an very un-animated corpse.
Also if your response to the above paragraph is something like "no my idea is original because they have this cool mutation and it's spread by a mutated parasitic walrus parasites instead of a virus liek other zombie stories" plz hit yourself over the head with a shovel kthxbai
Below: a visual representation of how interesting zombies are

Speaking of things that need to die...
I agree with you completely. For me it's gotten to the point where I ignore most things based around zombies, as they are overused like you said.

You're not human
I don't know what you are
Yeah, the whole zombie thing is so overdone it just makes me sick. I even stopped being impressed by The Last of Us as soon as the zombies - oh, I'm sorry - Infected showed up.
Yeah, zombies are overused and as a result it is hard to filter a good story from a bad one.
Those who do not learn from the mistakes of their past are doomed to repeat them.
I agree. The concept is so overdone to the point where I don't find it interesting anymore. I used to be a huge zombie fan, but got bored after awhile. Just the same thing over and over again; corpses walking around.
Just chillin' like always.
Zombies are obviously the pinnacle of creativity in modern media.

Cryo sleep that is. (sorry)
I beg to differ. Call of Duty can't kill aliens. Aliens > all
i think the obsession comes with the world going to shit economically and politically, so every form of media uses zombies as a twisted representation and people lap it up. i'm not completely sick of them yet, but zombies used to be pretty fucking cool and them becoming a nuisance due to repeated use is pretty sad.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Agreed. Also quite noteworthy is that all that it is not the zombies that often make the 'good' zombie stories good. Like for example "The Walking Dead" is as popular as it is because the zombies, but rather the human on human interactions during a time of crisis. You could easily switch the zombies for some other hazardous thing and still have all the makings of the same good story.

If people keep being this obsessed with zombies maybe someone will actually make a real virus that has a similar effect; airborne spread. Could be a pretty unhealthy obsession...
Btw, zombies can't die! They're already dead!
B-but Zombies movies/games are fun to watch/play.
Especially the ones, that aren't trying to be serious.
No, zombies need brains. ... BRAAIINNSSSS
It's not that zombies are bad per-se. They've just become media cliché.
It's that the mainstream media is so uncreative they pick once-popular staples and run them into the ground until people are sick of them, then repeat with some other item. They did it with vampires and werewolves and now it's zombies.
It's the same with radio. Play the same tired stuff until people are sick of it even though there is tons of actual variety in musical content out there.
Stick with more "indie" stuff and you get more variety. Newgrounds is a good choice for that so you made a good decision by joining.

They consume resources and reproduce, don't they?
But so does fire, and it is not alive.
I say keep the Walking Dead, and give everything else a rest.
I wish Trolls would become the next big monster.
Trollhunter should have started an explosion of Troll popularity.

I was thinking that same thing...

Watch COD rip off a great game's premise once "Aliens" gets boring.
Hell will never be out-of-style
