…and his efforts to improve the world.

Bill Gates: Here’s My Plan to Improve Our World — And How You Can Help

I am a little obsessed with fertilizer. I mean I’m fascinated with its role, not with using it. I go to meetings where it’s a serious topic of conversation. I read books about its benefits and the problems with overusing it. It’s the kind of topic I have to remind myself not to talk about too much at cocktail parties, since most people don’t find it as interesting as I do.

But like anyone with a mild obsession, I think mine is entirely justified. Two out of every five people on Earth today owe their lives to the higher crop outputs that fertilizer has made possible. It helped fuel the Green Revolution, an explosion of agricultural productivity that lifted hundreds of millions of people around the world out of poverty.

These days I get to spend a lot of time trying to advance innovation that improves people’s lives in the same way that fertilizer did. Let me reiterate this: A full 40 percent of Earth’s population is alive today because, in 1909, a German chemist named Fritz Haber figured out how to make synthetic ammonia. Another example: Polio cases are down more than 99 percent in the past 25 years, not because the disease is going away on its own but because Albert Sabin and Jonas Salk invented polio vaccines and the world rolled out a massive effort to deliver them.

Please read the full essay.

I've not kept up on things but he supports positive causes and also really questionable ones. Like most super wealthy people.

Like how he owns a large amount of stock of Monsanto? You know that company that makes cancerous GMO crops.

Well the most well known one is financing Monsanto or whatever that company is that makes deformed foods and kills bees for fun.

Right, that's one of those huge "catalytic investment" projects which could change the next century for the better! Gates is investing in companies which are capable of revolutionizing agriculture and putting an end to famine and food scarcity.

or whatever that company is that makes deformed foods

Genetically Modified Crops? Yeah Monsanto has a few GMO seed products. They're largely a chemical company, though they've recently made some modified strains of cash crops which are designed to pair with specific pesticides, allowing farmers to use fewer pesticides to get a higher yield of crops.

and kills bees for fun.

Actually, the pesticides which are killing Bees are produced by Bayer, not Monsanto

Monsanto is the problem, not GMO. Their monopoly and goverment protection means that they don't even have to give permission to anyone to test their shit for safety. Monsanto ruined GMO for everyone.

What monopoly? Del Monte is testing a new pineapple called the Rosé which contains Tangerine genes, Okanagan Specialty Fruits is coming out with an apple that never goes brown, and the Golden Rice Project is testing their flagship product, a hearty rice which produces Vitamin A. The only people trying to push any of them out of the market are Anti-GMO bullies who self-publish a lot of scaremongering ads intending to destroy the entire industry.

And HR-933 (page 75) doesn't protect Monsanto specifically, it was written to keep people from attempting to use the courts to destroy GMO-producing companies with fraudulent claims. A lot of Anti-GMO activists have tried to spin that, making it seem as though the language was designed to allow the "evil corporate interest" to make poisonous crops without consequences, which is just absurd.

Yeah probably. I dont blame him anyway, like if i had so much money than i know what to do with it becomes a game of darts, like the kind at amusement parks where you pay like 5 bucks for darts to throw at balloons for a big stuffed animal. When you have enough money to just take fistfull of darts and throw it at a bunch of balloons, eventually one of those balloons will be of actual benefit. May as well just throw fistfuls its not like youll ever run out of money. Its better than not doing anything with it.

Lol.

Anyway if I had Bill Gates money, I'd ball the fuck out. Platinum spinners on my platinum plated, diamond encrusted Ferrari or something.

Im not particularly bothered by GMO food but my mother has told me it can cause seizures or migraines or some other illness.

I would just accept the stuff as safe when even medicines can still cause bad reactions in certain people, lets just make they are completely harmless first.

Economy of Africa
Wealth of Bill Gates
11.67 million sq miles

He might be able to pull it off if he gets some other billionaires in the mix. $1.2T-USD is nothing to sniff at, but with enough money they could hire private security, create a few false flag operations to turn Britain, EU, and the ex-Colonies toward an invasion. Conveniently enough, al Qaeda-tied Islam has moved into North Africa, making a few wars in Africa a bit easier to sell.
