Why hello there! Welcome to the Final thread of the Newgrounds Audio Deathmatch 2013 (NGADM '13)! Yeah, we're finally at the end of what has been a tremendous competition. I'd like to start off by thanking all of you who've taken part, be it by auditioning, judging, or making it through to the knockout, this competition wouldn't be what it is without you! If you're really really behind and you don't know what the NGADM is, check out this thread to find out more. But for those of you who have been eagerly waiting for this moment, let's get started!
As all of you know by now, this thread will hold the results of the Final Round of the NGADM. The competitor with the highest score this round wins the competition and gets to have the biggest ePen0r of the portal. As with every round this competition, it was pretty hard deciding who gets the higher score and who doesn't. Both competitors were fantastic, and both would deserve to win in their own rights, but ultimately there can be only one winner!
Before we proceed, we would like to thank all the people that have helped out throughout the competition: camoshark for his list of submissions and threads which he's been keeping since the start, Artist-Lost for making the awesome logo, kirbyfemur for keeping an ongoing list of auditions, MetalRenard and PirateCrab for backup judging when we needed them, Back-From-Purgatory for keeping the peace with his mod powers, Blackhole12 for making the handy Round 1 and 2 playlists, gadogry for making those nifty stats throughout the rounds, SourJovis for making unofficial ranking lists to show competitors where they stand, Braiton for making a cool genre count for the auditions, and finally PeterSatera for being awesome enough to make the prize signatures which you'll be seeing shortly. Also, we'd like to congratulate Kor-Rune and etherealwinds for getting the joint third place this year! Aside from that, thanks to skyood, SkyeWintrest, johnfn, SoundChris, Nimble, Blackhole12 and Petersatera for giving us suggestions for future competitions which we will definitely be taking into consideration!
We'd again like to thank the great judging team for this competition, who as always put a lot of time and effort into getting you these results and all the results in the previous rounds: me, SkyeWintrest, Step, bassfiddlejones, alternativesolution, Back-From-Purgatory, and Neon-Bard. Unfortunately, SkyeWintrest could not make it this time round, so the score is an average of only six of our seven judges. These things do happen, and it's the reason we have a good number of judges in the first place, so never fear, the result is still fair as always!
And that should be it! After 4 months and 26 days of musical conquest, racoons, Leonardo Di Caprio, paddlings, samurai hackers, translated text files, stolen hard-drives, trolls, Skye the doge, timely auditions, spilt mspaint, an epic battle between Step and I, and above all, a truly amazing selection of music, it's finally time for the FINAL RESULTS!
--- Echo: 9.8
--- Step: 9.7
--- alternativesolution: 9
--- Back-From-Purgatory: 9
--- Neon-Bard: 9.5
--- bassfiddlejones: 9.8
--- Echo: 9.6
--- Step: 9.6
--- alternativesolution: 9.6
--- Back-From-Purgatory: 9.2
--- Neon-Bard: 9.75
--- bassfiddlejones: 9.2
Seriously why is this even here.
So that's it then! Another year over, and another winner revealed! Huge congratulations to johnfn for making it through six grueling rounds to get first place from nearly 250 auditionees who signed up in the first place, edging ahead by only 0.02 points, a testament to how close this round was! Also a round of applause to steampianist who got the remarkably close second place, and who made it nearly just as far, past the same number of challenges! Remember that Kor-Rune and etherealwinds get 3rd place, so they too deserve congratulations. Well done!
We are overall incredibly happy with this year's competition. It hasn't all been smooth sailing (those dastardly racoons *shakes fist*), but we've pulled through pretty well, and we haven't had any delays or major hiccups. Again, this couldn't have been possible without the great judging and design teams we had, and neither would it have been possible without you, so thanks to all of you! We will of course be making another NGADM next summer, so keep a lookout for that! We might also have a few nifty gadgets and tricks up our sleeves by then, which should ultimately lead to a better experience in general.
Anyway, I've rambled enough over the past 5 months for you to be sick of it, so I'll wrap this up. We hope to see you all again next year for the NGADM 2014 , so keep practicing and keep doing what you do, because next year might just be your year. See you then!
CONGRATS JOHN! This has been an awesome NGADM. Great job Steampianist, you kicked ass throughout this entire competition! You both and everyone in this competition did a fantastic job!
I'd like to congratulate everybody involved in this year's particularly proficient edition of this event, and I rejoice in seeing such diverse talents in the final fours, proving that no genre nor style is inherently doomed, and that originality is very much encouraged!
Thanks to all the judges for their efforts through FIVE months of ongoing competition, and dealing very efficiently and smartly with the seemingly never-ending stream of drama and/or dropouts throughout all of this. Serious props for keeping the momentum going with all of this going on.
Anyways, another congrats to everyone, and I'll be seeing you all in the next installment of this event next year. See you then!
Congrats to steampianist on a seriously impressive track.
I also want to thank the judges for putting on this amazing event. I feel like I've learned faster in the last couple of months than maybe any other point in my life due to their incredibly hard work and thorough feedback. I'm sad now that it's not guaranteed my pieces aren't going to get bombed with such amazing reviews!
Last thing - if any of the judges or participants are in San Francisco and want to meet up for a coffee, it's on me. It's the least I could do <3

This is a lifetime offer! If you happen to be in San Francisco for some reason in 2030 I'll still be down. We can reminisce about the Newgrounds of our youth. :)

Congrats guys! Let me know if you need me to get your sigs to you if echo and step are finding it difficult to host somewhere. :)
Huge congratulations to johnfn. A very well-deserved win. Of course, congratulations are also in order for steampianist, etherealwinds and Kor-Rune. It's one hell of an achievement to get that far. I hope everyone had fun in the contest, and remember that we are always up for listening to suggestions.
What happens now? Prize forum sigs for starters!
I've also contacted Tom about the store credit. Reminder of the store credit prizes:
1st: johnfn - $75
2nd: steampianist - $50
3rd: etherealwinds - $25
3rd: Kor-Rune - $25
Finally, the frontpages! I've sent a PM to all four winners asking each one of you which track of yours you'd like frontpaged. It can be any track. If I don't get an answer within a week, I'll choose a track myself!
That's about it. Got any questions, hit me up!
Here are all three of the forum sigs:

Seriously though, congrats guys. Unfortunately, my internet failed me for all of yesterday and I couldn't get my scores in for the final decision, but... regardless, I'll review both pieces. I'll try to keep it from being as hypercritical as earlier, and I'll be nice and laid-back. No scores from me, no scoring from me either. Excellent.
Honestly: @johnfn and @steampianist considering how close it was, I think I'm pretty justified in saying this: Both of you keep making music and doing what you do, k? Both of you are excellent and should show people what a couple of indie musicians can accomplish.
My AIM piece is found if you clicky the image.
Congrats to the winners! And huge thanks to all judges and contestants who put together an awesome contest. I'm not a musician and even I felt like I learnt a lot by listening to the songs and reading the experts' reviews.
And I've favourited so many people that I'm getting a new song from someone I like almost everyday :)
Until next year!
Congrats everyone! That was deathly close.
@steampianist I think an extra follow from me is due. <3 Done.
And @johnfn -- I take my hat off to you, good sir. After all the reviews you had asked from me and others in the past, you're becoming quite the musical powerhouse. You've slogged hard for this (ten years of production, now?), and anyone who visits your page ought to remember that anyone can rise from the ashes of what he used to produce.... and shine. Well done.
