The Most Hated Country In The World

Netanyahu said earlier this week, of Iran:

So what do you think? America was attacked once, long ago, over ten years ago, and we've been killing people over it for what will be about 13 years soon. Our people rallied, demanded death, war, violence and vengeance. Do other countries not have that right?

Could America, for all it's good deeds, also be the defacto most hated country in the world?

Let's talk about the pure scope of countries whose success, or failure, are affected by our presence. We have military bases all over the globe, and nothing stirs up hate like a visible foreign military force in your backyard.

Afghanistan, Germany, Korea, Cuba, Japan, Bulgaria, Kuwait, Israel, Italy, Australia, Bahrain, Brazil, Djibouti, Greece, Guam, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, Greenland, Kyrgyzstan, the Netherlands, Oman, Pakistan, Portugal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and more all have an establish United States military base under our sole control, and that list does not include "joint task force" installations, and does not include so called 'black site' bases, hidden from the public.

Where does Iran have military bases? Iran.

Who has killed more civilians, more soldiers, and destroyed more property over the last year? Five years? Ten years? 13 years? Iran, or America... Well I'm not a bean counter, but it doesn't take a genius to know this one. We look like warlords, with hundreds of installations, high tech weaponry, even the power to cripple nations' economies and wreak havoc with simple words. We strike fear into the hearts of men, and they become enemies out of fear and desperation.

Regarding Khamenei's statement, and given that we are involved in conflicts that account for the majority of all war related deaths in the past 13 years, either through outright conflict, or the fallout of the societies we affect, would you agree, or disagree, that America has the most amount of people that hate it.

When answering this question, bear in mind, that being the most hated is not the inverse of having the least people who support, and/or like America. It is possible to be the most hated, and the most loved, in terms of numbers of people.

If America is the most hated country on the world it's undeserved. I think North Korea (deservedly) and Israel (perhaps less deservedly) are more hated than the USA though.

A huge portion of the hate comes from the way America consistently behaves in international conflicts by its own set of rules, regardless of international law. People in this thread have said how there are hated countries like N Korea, Somalia and Russia, but for the most part they inflict their injustices on their own people, nobody even comes close to the scale of foreign killings committed by America.

For America I see a huge disconnect between their political rhetoric or their population (every single American I've met in person has been incredibly charitable and friendly), and the way their government behaves abroad. Chomsky's done a huge amount of publication about how America is run like a terrorist state, if you have the time check it out, it goes into a lot more detail than I can be bothered to do right now.

If you don't understand why the US is so hated world wide then I suggest you do some research. Did you know that the US has Military bases in 130 of 160 total countries in the world. USA spends more on "National Defense" which should be called "Global Domination" than all other countries in the world combined.

yes, perhaps Saudi Arabia and North Korea would be worse countries to live in, but they don't have half the international influence of the US. The US is hated internationally because it is so powerful. Yes, perhaps hypothetically if North Korea was as powerful as the US then the world would be worse, but that's not the case.

North Korea is just a newspaper story for everyone in the world; US dominance is a reality. So the US is de-facto the most hated. Perhaps followed by the other big international players, like China, Russia, the UK, Israel Japan, India, Pakistan... Saudi Arabia would be up there as well, but even among the biggest countries, the US trumps them all in terms of influence and how much it is hated. It could well be that the UK is the second-most hated.

The thing is with the US is that when it comes to Syria, or North Korea, or Saudi Arabia, we might hate the leaders but pity the inhabitants, so you couldn't even call them a hated country, just a hated government or a hated societal structure. Only an outright racist would say 'I hate Saudi Arabians', even though they conform to one of the most patriarchal, oppressive and vile societies imaginable (apparently - I've never been there).

With the US, there are a lot of people who are willing to say, 'I hate Americans'. In the UK we do it to the French too but people who seem to actually dislike people from the US. They're all cool in my books; in fact I like the US and just dislike your government.

The military power of the US is a key factor in how people hate the US, but in Western Europe we might be a bit pissed off about the fact that 'the US sneezes and the world gets a cold' in recessions, or that the US spy on our politicians. I can't agree with how you mitigate the issues with the corrupt and propagandized American Media specifically the major news networks. That said the US has brought many great movies and music and the like to the world but again most of which has been corrupted by a failing system based on broken education, morels and values. Also pride for ones place they call home is great but when it becomes nationalistic it can and did materialize into a global problem.

Yeah, that's very true and of course it has sponsored South American coups against democratic governments in the past. Definitely wouldn't claim it's a perfect country, but I'm still not sure it actually is the most hated country in the world (though it has pissed a lot of people off).

No, in fact if you try to look at statistics of the popularity of America vs. Russia vs. China vs. India America generally comes out ahead, but this generally depends on the region. In the Middle East America and Russia are unpopular due to their constant intervention in the region, meanwhile in East Asia America is much more popular than China or Russia because China and Russia are perceived as a threat and America is on their side. That said the popularity of these countries is rather variable, since the question can range from "how much do you like America" to "Which country do you think treats its citizens better", obviously America would win those specific questions like that more often than China or Russia.

I've would've imagined that a country like North Korea or Russia would be the most hated, considering that they're either corrupt as hell, extremely bigoted/racist towards gays and everyone else for that matter, and are either shitholes or turning into a shithole. Unfortunately, they aren't major global powers, {Russia is more of a regional power now} so by default, America ends up becoming the most hated country, even when much of it ranges from old grudges to ungrateful backstabbing assholes who we used to support in the Cold War.

While admittedly, the war in Afghanistan and Iraq were far from popular both here and abroad and got us some bad cred, {though a lot of countries were in the fighting as well} that should be nothing compared to Russia driving their country into the ground and trying to make their country as worse as the Soviet era, was from a human rights standpoint, and North Korea being North Korea.

I actually went over to this source from Wikipedia and was looking at this long article on some other website and it looked at the most hated and loved countries and said the same thing. I was surprised it wasn't North Korea, as they have even less freedom there. With the leaders they have had, I can understand this. Even Fidel Castro thought the Iranian leader went too far with Holocaust denial.

In case anyone's wondering, the second most hated country is Pakistan. I imagine that might not be significant in some people's eyes, but it also happens to be the most self hating country, though I didn't see a statistic for Iran.
