I'm planning on starting a new game pretty soon using pure AS3 with Starling, I have streaming equipment and I could stream that whole thing start to end talking and explaining the process start to finish. It'd probably be only and hour or two a day but I think it'd be fun. It would be on Twitch.tv and be free for all to watch, no signup even.
It will be a platformer with time manipulation mechanics.
Who would be interested in watching this live? How about on Youtube after?

It'll be interesting if your internet doesn't poop out. I'd watch it live, and I'd skim through some of the vods of parts I didn't watch live. One of these days I'm gonna get into the gaming sdk, so I'll probably go back to see how starling works.

Starling is extremely similar to pure AS3. Like you can hardly tell the difference.
As much as I value my three loyal viewers, any ideas on how to promote this?

Get your front page on, ask someone to post a link in their blog, or make videos so good that people flock to them by word of mouth. Or hashtag gamedev and adobeflash on twitter.

I'd probably tune in live a couple of times, I always think it's fun to watch other people dev. Most likely I'll catch the first one and just watch the rest on YouTube afterwards, though.

The last time I saw one of these live "game dev" streams I wanted to cry in frustration. A so-called "veteran" made himself look like a complete twat when I saw how horrible his code was. So if you are going to use Starling, make sure you have some insight to how a GPU actually works and some actual knowledge apart from the "Get Started" tutorial on their Wiki.
The time mechanic you mentioned should be planned thoroughly and you shouldn't be using the juggler as a quick gimmick to do this. Apart from that, good luck! I'll try and tune in when I can.

I wouldn't say I'm a vet, although I've been using Starling for the better part of a year, I'm made two full game with it, one I self-ported to iOS and Android at 60fps. So I do know what I'm doing for the most part.

This, I'm not to solid about, I'll probably be doing it as I go. :P

I would love to watch & learn something new while I'm learning ActionScript3.0.
Can you please "PM" me when you're going to be streaming, or you can just post the date & time on here.

I missed the first one but if you do upload these on YouTube later that would be sweet. Hopefully I can catch the next one.

Lol, you can rewatch them here. If you give me a day I'll put them on YT in a more organized way, but Twitch gives me these weird split flvs to deal with so it takes me time. -_-
Anyways, starting day 3. This will probably be the last time I update this thread for a while.

Oh. I'm an idiot. I should probably frequent Twitch more. Thanks MintPaw!
