It streams basically. You need to be within range of a PS4 and your Vita is acting like an input/output streaming device. It's one of those things that will become more common as companies like Valve etc. start to try to migrate people more to a streamed gaming model. Valve may not due to the Steambox but they may do it *using* the Steambox.

You're off about the prices of consoles btw. The PS4 is $400 and the XB1 is is $500. (These are the consoles with controller but no game)

And I wasn't saying the PS4's serious graphical advantage was a sole deciding factor. But it *is* a factor. All else held constant. And I see no reason to think the XB1 is better in any other way to make up for it. Including quality of exclusive titles.

But...what's the point of that?! Other than multiplayer, I see no reason for this to exist!

This says otherwise:

Oh, it isn't. I just think that shouldn't matter when the Wii U has already come out early, has the worst graphics, and has already sold a bunch of games. Why should graphics matter when all you're doing, in most cases, is experiencing an interactive movie? Look at Ryse: Son of Rome, for instance. As far as I know, it's going to play in QuickTime events. So, basically, you're playing Annoying Cutscene From Resident Evil: The Game.

I'm not saying all next-gen games are like this, not by any means. I just don't understand why some people place graphics over interactivity. These aren't movies, guys, they're video games. If I have to choose over Heavy Rain and New Super Mario Bros. U, I'd take the latter in a heartbeat. And it's all because of how interactive the game is. I honestly feel like most people don't see that anymore.

Well I don't know 100% of the details. It may be able to stream over the web too which lets you just leave the home and keep playing your PS3/4 games.

Eh.. if you actually followed the links that came up as a result of those two google searches you pasted, you'd have stumbled upon these:

Legit points but I tend to disagree. I think the games that value gameplay over graphics tend to rise to the top. I don't know anyone specifically for whom graphics are a selling point. Most people seem way more interested in art than graphics.

One thing I'm getting a bit annoyed with is the overly verbose exposition. Story is great.. but theme is far more important.

The handhelds have a promising future & the Wii-U's a step up from the Wii I guess (this includes for its time, mind you).

I imagine you'll still be just as aware that you're stood on a treadmill with a display mounted on your face, but it has potential to be a more "realistic" experience than current technology. It does have some massive downsides though, which could actually bring about some benefits I guess. How long will a physically unfit person be able to play their favourite shooter game when they're actually having to run in order to move in-game? Gameplay will probably be much slower paced but would that matter if it's a more immersive experience?

I Ctrl+F'ed this thread to see if anyone mentioned the Oculus. This is definitely something that interests me, and I had no idea that an omnidirectional treadmill existed until you mentioned it.

I doubt I'll ever be able to afford one of these, but I'd love to try one out if they have demos at Gamestops or whatever.

If I offer to help you in a post, PM me to get it. I often forget to revisit threads.

I looking forward to better PC ports since both consoles will be x86 now.

I hardly find something to be excited by the actual gen... unless they would merge more background and dynamics with graphic, really I don't know...

Well, I sure hope it stays that way. I'd prefer something that's easy on the eyes to something that looks overly realistic.

Very true. I guess it's all a matter of which games you play.

Very good point, as long as PC ports are not NEARLY as bad as Dark Souls Prepare To Die Edition control wise, then I think we'll be fine. :)

I don't understand why people think PC gaming is better than console Gaming.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think console gaming is better and PC gaming is crap cos games that work on it at first might hardly work again(be really slow) when their sequels come out which means you have to constantly keep upgrading hardware.

I was a Hardcore PC gamer for years till early this year.

I can see where you're coming from, all those patches you have to download and those awkward controls can be daunting at times.

not if you get the right shit right off the bat SLI or Crossfire two 2GB graphics cards and 16GB of decent RAM and and a Quad core Processor over 3.0GHZ and your set. you don't have to worry about upgrading for 3 or 4 years. and you can easily get your money back on graphics cards.

Couldn't tell much of a difference from ps3, ps4, and xbox one in the new call of duty game except the shadows were better. Graphics looked the same except improvement on shadows.

You've got to keep in mind that the console versions of multiplatform games are running at the equivalent of low-medium at 720p, or often actually slightly below that, at around 30fps.

If you want to play on max at 2560x1600 with 60fps then yes, you're going to have to upgrade every couple of years, but if all you want is something reasonable (and better than the console version), you're not going to have to worry.

I'm running a machine from 2008 that I've upgraded once, and I can still run new releases on high (although nowadays high means closer to 30fps, or medium-high for 60fps).

Don't get me wrong, I use a PS3 too, but that's mostly because there's no Japanese PC industry to speak of so there's a whole host of games that will never be ported. That's really all the console department has going for it, the Japanese market. It doesn't matter how good your PC it, you still can't play Vanquish or Tokyo Jungle or any of the other creative, fresh stuff that comes out of Japan.
