As a child listening to his music made a lasting impact on me and helped shaped my worldview. It really was an eye opener to reality, well beyond the cookie cut image driven into children. His art was thought provoking. I injected his art into my bloodstream. In my world as a young child and even as an adolescent such subjects weren't there otherwise. I just wanna party thinking of him. He once wrote "My week beats your year." It sure as does for the boring cowardly lives of most. Lines like “What am I? Honey, I’m a cocksucker” (Via the brilliant Please Kill Me) inspired me. His witty wreckless assholism was the hero's path to me. It inspired me that someone would speak as he did. For someone to speak so freely and sincerely, in a way that bit into reality in such an unashamed manner. Lou Reed was a giant.

I posted this with an image from an old Creem of Lou Reed 'Wanted Dead or Alive' which plays at him being a counter culture icon. I used to have that on my wall. Listening to him was much of what inspired my thinking on equality, language, and facing people in everyday life.
