As an example, I try to limit myself to a soda or two a week. I've tried to quit them entirely before, but gave up because I didn't notice any difference in my health at all and I liked drinking soda. This is opposed to going to the gym, where I feel and see a difference in my body and mood. Also quitting nicotine, where my breathing and mood improved significantly in just a few weeks. The results are apparent.
When you look at health food and herbal supplements and such and listen to healthy people hark on about them they can never tell you how completely abstaining from normal food and choking down an ounce of krill oil a day is improving their health. The best they can say is "well this is good for your liver" (statement not evaluated by the FDA) or "well this helps promote a positive mood". All the while there's nothing about them that would suggest they're any healthier or happier than me.
TL;DR it just looks like they're putting themselves through a lot of shit just to see nothing more than a nebulous and probably negligible improvement in their health. Not a very fair trade. What are your thoughts?
I'd rather live briefly and enjoy myself than eat soy or whatever and be miserable for 100 years.
You look nice today.
This guy brutally sodomizes me.
Cereal is pretty cool. If you're cool you'll add me on Steam. Also, Letterboxd.
it's not exactly hearty to think about counting your calories ,It really adds to the temptation that you have limiting yourself to how much you want. Just eat until you feel full.

Yeah, but there's an upper limit to how healthy you can be. If you have no untreated health problems then congrats, you're healthy.
Eat until your stomach says "stop" and you should be fine.

I think that if you want to live an extra few years, or avoid certain health issues, sacrificing a few dietary items is a tolerable task. The abstinence for pretty much everything seems to die down over time. Not that I'm a health nut, but as long as these people you speak of practice what they preach and don't just preach their practice they're doing themselves a favor, so that's great! Eating good doesn't mean being miserable.
Personally I believe that as long as you live healthily otherwise (IOW exercise a ton) it doesn't really matter what you consume.
well you dont have to cut out completely lol.
LIKE when I diet i eat my good everyonce in a while or i would die

soft drinks are literally some of the worst health detriments of all . . . they rot your teeth stuff you full of empty calories & increases your risk of diabetes with regular intake & they should be avoided at all costs. a balanced diet & regular exercise will give you a surplus of energy which will make you less stressed irritable & tired or in other words just increasing your overall quality of life. not only will you have a longer life but you will also lead a better life if you drop the short term joys which are carbonated beverages

Yeah I'm just talking about people who take it way too far
I just consumed my first fast food item in over 5 months.
Though it tasted good, my stomach DID not like it.
That's what I get for being too lazy to go home and cook, I guess.
As far as the health nut stuff, as long as you're not bashing other people over the head for their diet decisions, then do what you want.
Skynet is upon us.

I second this motion. When we consume resources, the resources can only bloat if we do not compensate for that influx.
You do not make examples, you make excuses; you do not solve problems, you shift problems; you do not stand behind your statements, you stand behind your stasis.
