So, today's another beautiful day in the NFL season, so that means that I'm making this thread so that we can talk about today and tomorrow's football games. While you're doing that, you can also post pictures of cute girls. Keep those pictures safe for work, though.

Here's some of today's games:

Bengals @ Lions

Bills @ Dolphins

Cowboys @ Eagles

Bears @ Redskins

49ers @ Titans

Ravens @ Steelers

Broncos @ Colts

and then tomorrow will have the Giants playing against the Vikings. Who's ready for this shit to go down?!?!?

The Steelers won last week. Either it was because of Geno Smith or because I wasn't watching. Who knows?

My TV receiver crapped out while I was away. The husband messed around with the rabbit ears so I can at least get the games on CBS, but we need a longer-term solution for TV in general. Sure, I have NFL Mobile, but I'd rather not squint at a tiny screen.

The Steelers and the Ravens are both crap this year, so the Steelers have a shot. I know Super Bowl champions are never the same teams afterward, but I didn't expect the Ravens to be flailing so much. They need Ray Rice to step up.

Hmm, Buffalo is killing it so far. A little surprised.

Steelers win by a field goal. What a great game.

They're not where I'd like them to be but they played halfway decently today. Also a lot of boneheaded mistakes by Baltimore.

Even though it's the right call as far as the rules go, does pushing your team mate into the offensive formation really merit a 15 yard penalty in the Pats/Jets game? It should have been 5 or 10 at most when they wrote that rule.

Wow, Peyton Manning and the Broncos are getting their ass beat in Indy. Can't say that I saw this coming. Andrew Luck is for real guys.

Colts up, 33-17

Just a continuation of a worrying trend in recent weeks. People are getting hung up on the dreadful pass defence in Denver, but the real killer is the fumbles in the red zone. There have been a ridiculous number in the last few weeks, and this time they were playing a team who capitalised.

I'd like to see the stats on number of punts Denver have had compared to turnovers- I suspect it is pretty close this year. They are very hard to stop on downs, but there are definitely fumbles in the team, and Peyton has started throwing interceptions as well.

Still, that was one of three tough games on the schedule (@Patriots and @Chiefs still to come), and even if they lose all of those they should still have a 13-3 record at the end of the season. The concern is the Chiefs have such a soft schedule that they might beat them to the AFC West and steal the number 1 seed. They have the Colts to play, and two games against Denver... but that is about it. It would be gutting to get 13 wins and end up with the 5th seed... as we all know the Broncos need all the help they can get in the postseason!

Turnovers are still negative, but I imagine the number will rise if they continue screwing up.

The fumbling problem can possibly be corrected, {Though with Hillman, that might be easier said than done} but that secondary cannot. A high caliber QB like Luck will easily torch Denver's pass defense given the chance and come out with a win, hell even an average QB like Flacco or Romo has already lit them up in the past.

Turnovers generally come and go through a season, but something like a leaky secondary is hard to fix. The Broncos may have to break the offensive records of the '07 Patriots, just to make sure that the Chiefs don't beat them to the division title.

Things might get awkward if both KC and Denver get a split and finish 13-3, in which we would probably have to break out some sort of tiebreaker on who wins the division and most likely the number 1 seed. Though from what we've seen in recent postseasons is that home-field advantage doesn't carry as much weight as it used to, and either team can win it all even if they don't get a home game. There's a lot of football left to be played, but at this point, there are only four teams that have a legit shot of taking the AFC crown, {in respective order} Broncos, Chiefs, Colts and Bengals.

You know it's bad when Adrian Peterson couldn't run through the Giants' current defense.

But Flacco and Romo lost, and Luck may well have done without the Denver turnovers (especially the fumble 5 yards from the line). The secondary is awful, no doubt about that, and there is nothing Denver can do about that now, but they can still beat anyone if they cut out the offensive errors. Even giving up 30+ points a game they can still outscore virtually anyone. The only side that would really worry me on that front is the Saints. It remains to be seen if Denver can keep scoring against a really elite defense (49ers, Seahawks and Chiefs spring to mind at the moment).

They probably will have to break the points record- they need at least 30 points a game at the moment to win. Fortunately they are managing that with some ease.

True enough- Denver are formidable at home, but last season showed they are not unbeatable. I'd still say they would be very tough to stop with the number one seed though, despite previous failures. The Chiefs are also very strong at home, but only one of those two can have homefield in the playoffs- unfortunate as probably the top two in the AFC. I agree with the four you have there, but I'd add the Patriots (as much as I would love to be wrong)- you just can't write them off in any single game.

While I have no doubts that they can outscore everyone, {and they have no excuse not to from a talent perspective} either another elite offense or defense can derail Denver even if they don't turn the ball over, however unlikely that is. Even with the Broncos offense humming the way they are, they can't be winning shootouts on a constant basis, because you'll never really know if that offense hits a snag, and have to resort to the defense to get the win.

Very true, although the Chiefs may have something to say about that.

Normally, I would put the Patriots in the discussion, but their defense is shattered without Wilfork and Mayo, and their offense is potent as usual, but very inconsistent, especially with a glass cannon in Amendola. Teams like the Bengals can easily smother them on defense, and are good enough on offense to stand toe-to-toe with the Patriots, though even with their woes, they should win the AFC East with ease considering that everyone else is average at best.

Also, it may sound inconsequential, but no Super Bowl winning team has lost to the Jets, something that Idiot-Finder told me about, so at the very least, it's avery bad omen for the Patriots, who essentially got robbed by a silly rule on the GW FG play by the Jets.

At least not without playing the team who did the same or losing to the Bucs. Don't forget the 2001 Pats only got away with that because the Rams dropped a game to the Bucs that year (then there's the fact that no QB with a passing yards title won in the same year since 1959).

If the Pats somehow makes it to the SB, they better hope that their opponent lost the game to the Jets or the Bucs to cancel it out, otherwise they're already dead.

Something tells me this Josh Freeman isn't a very good quarterback. I've seen drunks piss with more accuracy than he threw.

The whole team though. Dear God. Losing that badly to the Giants is like losing a game of checkers to an iguana.
