Instead of English?
Is it right to say they speak american?
Because thr are so many differences in pronunciation.
(Pizza) America= Pit za, England= Pee suh
(Can't) American= Kent, England= C unt
(Strawberry) American= Straw bear ri, England= Straw bri
America = Gray, Center, Donut, Flunk
England = Grey, Centre, Doughnut, Failed
England English - Can you recognise what colour is grey?
American English - Can you recognize what color is gray?
American pronounciation of Tomato
Toe-Mae-Toe
Proper Pronounciation of Tomato
Toh-mah-toh
There are many more. Just naming some

It's English; British/American are both accents.
Along with plenty of others that people probably don't know about.

American and English are two distinct languages.
Why?
The United States doesn't have a national language! That would be unconstitutional via the 1st Amendment! The government may not use the law to force citizens to have a religion or speak a language. Citizens and occupants speak dozens of sublanguages which have branched off their extranational roots. To name a few:
• American Spanish
• American French
• American Chinese
• American Arabic
• American Hindi
And the big one which is used in business and between subcultures:
• American English

Like other people said, American English is not different enough from other English language groups to be considered its own language. Maybe in a thousand years that will change, assuming we are speaking English at all by then.

Pretty much this.
Just how Mexicans speak Mexican Spanish, Brazilians speak Brazilian Portuguese, and the Irish speak Irish English.

What the hell? I don't think that's even a term. They have their own language you know. Like Scotland and Wales.

If it's a different language then why can I understand both spoken languages when I only learned British in school? Maybe we should have had American as a school subject as well.

Well..
I've seen a few Americans who claim they speak 'American', rather than English.

And they are obviously very stupid if they honestly think "American" is a language.

I understand what you're saying, but I'd go for the reason that we have different words for the same things like fries translating to chips, or garbage to rubbish, etc, etc...
