The very fact they are saying this will happen shows that they have no idea how to properly pull off a character death and that it is simply a ploy to bring in more viewers and get rid of a voiceactor. Things like this should either be slowly expected or sudden depending on if its dying from a long term thing or an accident and nether the less it should be taking the watchers by surprise even if originally maybe expected due to an illness etc.

Telling people it is going to be happening is just a ploy, nothing more.

If it's a fairly main character, I'll be interested, but of all the significant characters who have died, the show killed off Maude Flanders, Bleeding Gums Murphy, Dr. Marvin Monroe and Frank Grimes, none of whom were very significant.

Bah. It will be a minor character. The most major character I could see them killing off (if they haven't already) is Sideshow Bob, since there really isn't much that they do with him apart from him trying (and failing) to kill Bart.

Just say static, and I doubt they're even away of creepypasta to be honest. Though the Family Guy crossover might draw from it. Since McFarlane was big on stealing jokes from the internet.

It's been around long enough that I'm sure Matt Groening has at least heard of it. I could see Seth McFarlane dropping a reference too it in the FG crossover. Maybe have a gag where Bart actually does fall out of the plane, but something (SpiderMan maybe... They haven't used that gag in a while) saves Bart and reminds him that everybody gets one...

I think it will be Edna. Grandpa and Willy are too funny. Edna seems like a very replaceable character.

Some time last season. I think they had an episode where Ned and Edna started dating. Simpsons staff started a poll to see if viewers would be interested in seeing the relationship continue, and most people were.
