WHO IS EXCITED?

To this day, this library will be the largest 'epic' orchestra to be sampled...

"The library, recorded in one of the greatest symphony halls in the world in 96kHz and using 8 microphone positions, contains 240 players across 100 strings, 60 brasses, 20 percussionists and 60 woodwinds."

100 Strings?!?!?

60 Woodwinds.... (o_O)
20 Percussionists (Hmmm... if they have pulled it off (Which I am trusting they have!))

(And more as they said in the future recording)

So it includes Hybrid sound design and Synth ensembles...

8 mic positions for the black edition but 2 for silver edition

"8W will be published exclusively through V8P".... Ok I heard a rumor ages ago you have to sign up to buy this library... and well.... How much is it do you think? I have not seen a price yet be could any one imagine the price?

What do you think of having a selection of over 240 players in the Orchestra at your fingertips?

The compositions I have heard so far have so what impressed me with the sound, it will get me away from just using EW all the time... If this is less than £1,000... I am going to wait because 8Dio always puts on great deals... Maybe they will do a half price for the silver edition?

I have not really heard anyone talk about it around here so I wanted to get some more information and opinions... :)

I was saving up for EW Composer's Complete 2 but then I found this a few days ago, and if it's a reasonable price this looks and sounds like a waaaaay better option. That's a massive orchestra and if it's as good as 8dio's other products it will rock.

According to the fan page on facebook there is some sort of exclusive thing for people who have bought $2,000+ worth of 8dio products. But if they're only releasing it to those people that doesn't seem like a good business idea? Because lots of people are going to want that library and they'd be limiting their market a ton. Or force a lot of people to buy more products. Otherwise, I don't think they've released much on price, have they given a date yet for its launch?

Ive not said much at this point, and havent posted here about it as it's not got any demos. I like alot of their stuff, but yeah i also read it's private initially. That's fine, if its worth it, they'll release it. *dio arent daft, they'll want to make money.

No its not you, I was not very impressed with that.. I think that might be how the samples are so that would be a big downfall if the samples were like this.. :(

Give it the benefit of the doubt at this point. Troels would have been working with a WIP version and may have added even more reverb. 8Dio's never had that sort of reverb baked into the samples, some reverb, but nothing that would make their product unsellable. The reverb could be there to mask the in-production roughness of the samples, we never know.

The demo's good though and Im looking to seeing progress videos, no doubt they'll be using Kontakt.

Yeah, he mentioned it being a 'VST'?? Do you think he actually means a VST not another library?

Also do you mean, if he means he is using a VST, you mean that Kontakt might be meaning to team up with 8Dio to make a awesome VST that he said? <- o_O

About the reverb, good idea... it most probably slaughtered it for a reason for the Full version to sound outstanding once it comes out..

About the reverb, good idea... it most probably slaughtered it for a reason for the Full version to sound outstanding once it comes out..

At first listening to him, it sounded like a kontakt library, however after thinking about why he wrote (VST), and from alot of comments on their FB, it looks like a stand alone. Which is a bit meh to me. Kontakt has had loads of time to mature to get better, and its very efficient. The reverb is quite large, and could be due to the large sections they sampled and that he wanted to show off the 8 mics they set up.

Ive tried not to get too excited over it though, like other companies they say something is coming, then delay it by years.

Exactly what I was thinking, something this big has to have some kind of delay... Something has to go 'wrong' sooner or later :(

I wouldn't doubt that heavy reverb being the natural room/hall sound actually, but given the premise of EIGHT mic positions, I'm sure the user will get to tailor the sound to his/her liking. so I'm not worried.

it's not like I'd be able to afford this anytime soon, so I'd probably get a new machine before considering this.

I would be happy with 3 mic positions xD

They said silver will be 2 and black edition will be all 8...

Maybe Black edition is like platinum edition so there might be a Gold edition released with 4 mic positions (who knows?)

ah I missed that part. well I took another listen and Bill Brown's demo is a lot less reverb-y than the other demos. although he very likely used the black edition, so we'll see. it could also be possible that Troels and the other guys used a digital reverb?

on a side note: I've been waiting for a brass section that can almost match up to the epic proportions of a drum corp. I say "almost" because the contrast in style between symphonic and drum corp brass is too radical to compare.

Im sure you will have plenty of time to save for this, LASS is a great program and certainly not a waste of cash. :) The library here sounds very niche.

Not that im complaining i love a bit of hybrid orchestra!

EW Hollywood packs still sound higher fidelity then those demos. If this is affordable, then it might beat out the lower library competition, but knowing how expensive the adagio strings already are I gotta wonder if its even worth it.

Don't get me wrong I love 8dio for their hydrid tools, requiem, and epic drums, but I'm not sure this will be any kind of huge milestone. I think it'll just be another viable library to chose from. Its a lot darker sounding than the others out there so thats something kinda unique.

8Dio Hybrid Tools must of been one of the first libraries I encountered from 8Dio so I decided to check them out more often and started buying more products, really awesome library to have + Requiem

I would assume they could be thinking about it, it would make sense because they have a choir bundle, and String Bundle, although with the time they are putting into 8W, there might not be any 8W+Choir bundle... Or if there is, it is going to be a heck load of money...

Maybe they have products planned for the future like 8Dio Brass or 8DIo Woodwinds... Maybe the Full Orchestra bundle would be all that + Adaigo Strings... (But again, how much would that cost?? :( )
