Most guys, as we know, won't. They'll probably panic. If your instinct tells you to panic, please tell me, what's the use of that? Panic just spreads intensity through the group of people, it's not gonna help anybody.
Maybe because someone you knew very well has just been cut from your life.
Also, if people really were indifferent, there would be bodies lying around and rats and plagues.
Unfortunately I am, what gets me going is the other people who are mourning.

You mean; does it not bother us?
I haven't been around enough dead bodies to know. I don't think it would shock me if it's anyone's corpse, rather than someone I invested emotion into.

Well, yeah. I'd like to think if I was in a group of people I'd be emotionally stable. That's logical. Emotions don't serve any help in these situations, unless you need the adrenaline as well.

That's compassion what you're talking about. Of course someone will get sad and start crying if he lost a person he knows. But let's say you see a corpse of a complete stranger, about five meters in front of you. How would you react?

Hmm, that's not what I meant. How would you emotionally react? Will you get scared? Will you panic? Or will you stand emotionless for a while and then call the police?

I know, right? What kind of asshole just leaves a corpse out in the open for everyone to see? So inconsiderate...
Corpses are unanimated, unmoving. I fear them not.

If it was someone I did not know, I'd indeed be indifferent. Unless they've been run over by a bulldozer or something similar, then I'd throw up first.
If it was someone I did know, I'd be very happy.
You can't fight for peace. If you fight, there ain't peace.

Panic does serve a purpose, not full on panic, but increased awareness and adrenaline allow you to react to a possible threat which exists near a dead body. You do not know how this body died. Instinct puts us on high alert.

I do when I see pictures of them. /b/ has really desensitized me. I'm sure I'd act differently if I see one in person.

i wouldn't know since i've never seen the corpse of a stranger. the closest thing i have in my experience is seeing my late grandfather (god bless his soul & may he rest in peace) during his open casket funeral which made me sad but it was also very strange to see a man i'd known my whole life & realizing he was actually dead. he's in a better place right now

I'm unaffected at all by dead bodies. But if I came across one in the woods, or anywhere else for that matter, my fear would stem from "If there's a body laying here, somebody put it here.. TIME TO GO".

What is the importance of fear? A child that has studied for an exam and fears that he's going to get a bad mark isn't going to help him concentrate.
So many corpse images float around the net that I've probably been dulled a bit, but if I saw a corpse in real life? I don't know how I'd react.

We're so indifferent we're no different from corpses.
I've been to a lot of open casket funerals in my lifetime and morgues to give my respects to the deceased
Believe what thou Wilt
If I was walking down the street and I see a corpse laying on the ground I think I would be pretty freaked out, but I would be able to refrain from screaming. I attended a funeral once, so I have some experience with seeing bodies of the deceased.
Just chillin' like always.
Well first of all, its natural to have panic/fear towards a human body.
The fear/panic is good, its warns us.
Secondly less people will panic then you think OP. Also the closest you have probably come to seeing a corpse is a picture, and although that's scary its probably not as frightening as the real thing.

It kind of depends on how decayed the corpse is... A skeleton? Creepy but nothing to panic about. A recently deceased body? Creepier, but nothing to panic about. A body that has been rotting for a while, with the clothes begining to wrinkle and maybe missing an eye? HOLY CRAP! WTF!?
This is pretty edgy stuff to be honest

I think we saw your name the first time you posted. No need to write it at the end of your sentence.

I think this question is a little too purposefully obtuse.
It's not like you see a dead body an it snaps "Mortality! What does this mean? I need three philosophers, a poet and a scarf!"
If it's someone you care about, yeah. And in the scenario the thin fellow from India mentioned it wasn't just about calling the cops as clean up. Something, possibly an outside source that could still be dangerous, caused this otherwise healthy person to die. Fear is a natural in that circumstance. What makes us higher animals is that we then think to call up the authorities so they can explore the possibilities. We're tool users!
Corpses don't particularly impact me.
I'll lick one for a dollar.
One time I came home and found my mother decapitated and anally raped.
Didn't even phase me.
I took it like a boss.
