Damn lol, what country was that from? I think much of the world hates left hand drive... loved seeing the new bench seat, they're not noted for lasting long.
Sounds more like mine either has a 360 or 390 (v8).
All original engine and carburetor? Any oil leaks? Sometimes the 'timing' can get off a few degrees on these engines.. gotta bust out a timing light every couple of years to be sure.

I wonder if timing might be what is causing some of the odd starting problems I've had.. Sometimes (if the car is tilted slightly like on a slope of some kind, even if it's really gradual) it just doesn't want to start until I crank it a bit! I haven't seen any oil leaks to speak of, the engine sounds very smooth and transmission shifts very clean. The engine bay is ultra dirty so I honestly don't really have a good idea of what may be original or not. I think the next thing may be to put a better air intake on it (that'd be fun).

I feel like very important seconds of my life are stolen from me everytime I read one of your posts.

Lots of good, clean air never hurt an engine. My Pop's GMC needs a new filter, and for the smaller of the V8's, it's a whopper of a size, probably fan driven too. Dunno what to tell you about the slope... it can't be a gravity feed (of gas into the carb). Sounds like it could be a dirty fuel filter, clogged screen or inlet in the gas tank.. hope it isn't the latter. Probably nothing to worry about unless it takes longer an longer cranking to start. Doubt it's the timing if the engine's running smooth, perhaps the coil is wearing out... you need a good buildup in the coil to get dem spark plugs... sparking :| Newer stuff has a coil for each spark plug O_O

The feeling is mutual. Though to be honest he does has some form of a point. My dad was painting the lower section of his '69 Nova SS (the quarter panels and whatnot) and I had to help him with taping stuff off and ended up needing to stick around and as a result inhaled A LOOOOT of paint fumes. Like...A LOT a lot.
The only times I've felt more light headed was when I was in the back seat of my sister's car after she got pulled over because her license plate light was out and the cop thought we were "eluding him".
The reason being is because my sister didn't know if he was following us or not so she turned off onto another road to see if he actually was following us.
I kept my window down while my sister's car was still on and there was a ton of exhaust fumes billowing into the car.
The other time would be when my dad refused to admit his car ('51 Pontiac Chieftain) wouldn't start up while he was in a completely closed garage and the entire thing filled up with exhaust fumes in a matter of minutes.
And he was in there for like an hour trying to start that thing and wouldn't let me or my sister leave til he got it started.
