I had more experience with Street Fighter when I was like 16 or so I'm pretty much leaning towards that. Mortal Kombats cool too still getting used to it though.
I have a penis
If I had to pick I'd go with MK because it's a fighting game I'm not terrible at.
However, Soul Calibur is superior to both.
I grew up with Mortal Kombat so I'm going with that.
But I prefer Tekken over both of them.
even spent multiple hours JUST training as Yoshimitsu and mastered every possible move that he can do
mortal kombat cause I grew up with it.

Street Fighter.
Why wasn't King Cobra in IV? No I will not let it go, fuck you.
"Anything could happen in the next half hour!"
"For the love of God, don't stop pretending you're a dragon!"
UMK3 was better than SF2, IMO, but it's a tough choice between UMK3 and SF Third Strike. I'd rather play MK9 than any other game from either franchise, though. I wasn't crazy about the gameplay in SF4. SF Alpha was cool, though.
I hope Tekken X Street Fighter actually gets made. Street Fighter X Tekken plays like SF 4, but Tekken X Street Fighter was gonna play like Tekken 6, which would be good.
Street Fighter is a lot smoother and more fluid of a fighting game, but Mortal Kombat is more of a spectacle to watch. MK did a good job making more of a serious fighting game with the reboot, but it's still not as good as SFIV in terms of the actual fighting mechanics.
More familiar with Street Fighter but I like MK too.

I grew up knowing both of them from Arcades and I never really compared them. They just coexisted.
Super Smash Bros.
On a serious note though, MK.
I got Tom to make a sig, bow down to me.
Street Fighter, I never owned any Mortal Kombat games,
uMVC3 is that stuff though (;
Do a barrel roll!
I prefer Street Fighter over MK in general, although I like the latest MK better than the latest Street Fighter (MK had some reaaally shit entries though).
SoulCalibur is my all-time favorite though, just because it seems to be the hardest to get into, which makes it the most rewarding.
I love all fighters (except Virtua Fighter... seriously... fuck that...) but if I had to pick, between these two, I'd say Mortal Kombat. I feel that Street Fighter is *better* from a control standpoint, and I'd even dare to say it has cooler characters (that's not to say Mortal Kombat characters are lame btw) but I normally have more fun playing Mortal Kombat due to the visuals (meaning blood and gore here) and I will also admit that most of my friends prefer Mortal Kombat, so that probably factors into that too.
That said, Mortal Kombat Deception and Aramageddon kinda sucked. The only Street Figher game I've picked up and thought sucked was EX3, and I heard that the EX series was OK EXCEPT for that installment for some reason...

I agree I found that series to be VERY underwhelming. Give me Tekken any day

I grew up with my fighting game of choice being Mortal Kombat but as I got older I leaned towards Street Fighter but now after playing the new Mortal Kombat I'm in love with the series again. So my choice is Mortal Kombat.
Super Smash Bros. Melee and Virtua Fighter are pretty cool. I like the cabinets Virtua Fighter has.
i'd say mortal kombat because i prefer most things about it, however my true fighting loves are guilty gear, tekken and soul calibur
I will be far more acquainted with the road Jet fighter sequence compared to the Deadly Kombat collection. Specially the control over your gaming our pick is actually Block Martial artists.

What?
My first fighting game was Street Fighter,so I will go with that.
Anything Marvel, darkstalkers, and persona 4 arena
SF was too focused on footsies/space control which i found boring and MK is just a shitty fighting game(I'll admit I only played MKvsDC and a little bit of MK9).
i just like how combo oriented and fast marvel is. when I body my opponent it feels like i just raped someone in a back alley out of revenge. winning feels good. Darkstalkers is kinda like what happens if SF was a bit faster.
we should post our mains :3
SF Ryu
MK Raiden

Marvel made some great fighting games.

Mortal Kombat will win the war. It has gore, blood, fatalities and many more. Street Fighter has this sudden final effect that happens when your character or your opponent gets defeated.

MVC1 spiderman, venom
MVC2 spiderman, storm , cable
MSHspiderman
SF, because Mortal Kombat is gay.
Just like it's fanbase!
Ever since the days of Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter II, I've preferred SF. MK has always felt stiff to me, in comparison. The SF combat is faster and more fluid. What I like about MK, though, is the ambience and environments. The MK games are a lot darker, which I like.
Mortal Kombat is awesome cause its really violent. in fact if it was never made then there would be no ESRB
I owned both and would pick MK over SF any day.
I always like the atmosphere that the Mortal Kombat games have set.
Mortal Kombat because I grew up with it as well. Mortal Kombat and Tekken made me the best in my family at fighting games. I played Mortal Kombat and Tekken at somebody's house not long ago and beat the whole household. I just know how to do all of Scorpion's moves - and a few of Sub Zero's. I've never completed MK2 though. It was always too hard.
Street fighter was more in my life because of puzzle fighter as well.
Plus Mortal Kombat's modern games are better than Street Fighter's modern games in my opinion.
