Here's how I think rock/metal should be changed:

'General Rock' abolished. This incredibly general term can be split into just a couple different groups so that people aren't swimming through tons of different songs with varying genres.
Create 'Alternative' and merge it with 'Grunge'. Pretty much anything you would hear on a modern rock station could be categorized in an alternative section.
'Heavy Metal' should be split into at least 2 sections. I'm not sure what terms would be used, but at least separating the heavier metal (death, etc) from the "lighter" stuff (hair, etc) would make it a bit easier for users to sort their music and find what they like.

Another very unlikely approach would be to just separate everything into decades. 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s would easily sort out the rock. The problem is sorting out all of the already existing music, and then figuring out what to do with the genres that don't necessarily fit into any decade of 'rock', as most people know it (like death metal).

Of the electronic genres available its either like dubstep/dance/house or ambient/experimental. Downtempo would fill out the middle ground tempo wise, cover glitch-hop, less dancy trance, area's of IDM, and other hybrid genres like minimal/tech house/jazzier synth stuff.

I agree with IO's point. We should have an IDM/Downtempo genre. It would filter out the other EDM stuff (Dubstep, House, Etc.)
And I think that Kor-rune has a good point as well. I know plenty of people who would blow up if they called a djent track metal lol

The other genre I would like is either electro or idm, for electronic music that isn't intended for dancing.

Its called chipstep on NG because his name is Step and not Tune :D
