Seriously guys it's a game jam. Giving you guys a week to make your games would ruin the fun. Also when you guys submit your games put in assassinjam as a tag so I can find them easily.

1.5 days pass, have talked to main artist once on Facebook, hasn't done any work yet. Says he'll take tomorrow off to make sure he has enough time. Running low on hope.

Random jams are a lot worse than normal jams. But the topic was iffy at best and it was pretty terribly organized.

I don't think the finish time was ever mentioned in the art thread, so that could be part of the reason. But people shouldn't sign up if they won't have any time to work...

If they ring the bell and declair *its finishing time* show us what you got and we still have half the team as no-shows with just a bunch of art and no programmed game... it'll suck i admit, but I'm not going to magically learn how to program a game in 1 day when our voice actor never once showed up and our wildcard is MIA for 2 / 3 days and the programmer was only there for the first day. but yea i dont think the finishing time was mentioned at all in the art thread. Truly i expected a solid week to conceive build and work on and polish it *at least* but that was my guess when i signed up.

Yea its just you and I, also the music / audio guy thats two on art ( still hard to pull thru with ) and still waiting for the programmer tonight. so thats tops 3 minus the programmer and that leaves 2 that are fully absolute AWOL and 1 that is intermittently showing up.

My team and I are working really hard, but there's no way we're finishing in the next few days. I hope the deadline is somewhere in the middle of next week. We could probably complete it by then.

Well if you're in love with the concept, then you don't neceassarily have to finish it on time. You can still submit it, just not as part of the contest. I'll agree with most and say this contest is beyond shoddy, and dates/times should have been released and the fact that they haven't is beyond stupid, and that the organization of it is off-the-wall bananas. It's still a Game Jam, which always had the concept of making a game that quickly.
Now if you want to give your game the best of polish, then follow through with it after the contest with your team, and make that one hell of a game. I believe in you for that!
Also, as a side note, we've got some pretty nice headway going with our team. While it'll be tough, the monday deadline is looking easily doable for us! go team!
Realizing how terrible I was with the dates I have an idea. On Sunday night have a member of each team to send me a PM telling me how far away you are from being done. If on average most people aren't done the deadline will be extended. Sorry for the disorganization.

I'd say since from the PM's you guys need a good amount of time I'll say have your games in by this Friday 12:00 A.M. GMT -4 EST. Seeing as you guys will now have to work weekdays to finish the games Friday seems fitting since you can't work as much as you can on a weekend. Good luck guys!

Probably should have checked the note that had the hours I was awake. Anyhow, jobs been done since 3am alaska time today.

Just wanted to chime in about the time constraint that people seemed to have a problem with. The idea behind a game jam is that you only have (generally) 24 to 48 hours to complete your project. This means you need to find a way to manage your time and make the best use of it as possible.
This puts everyone under pressure, and without coordination/cooperation between team members disasters happen (as can be seen in this thread). But, that is the whole purpose of the jam. It is something that is supposed to push you to be as good as you possibly can, and if you don't finish that is okay.
