And then there are those that take the media's shallow portrayal of homosexuals (flamboyant guys or super-manly girls) for truth for all homosexuals and dislike what they see. For fear, the solution is usually more knowledge on the subject a person fears. This is true for homosexuality as well.
After people are educated about homosexuality, they can either choose to like it, dislike it, not mind it, or not care about it/forget it, and the fear can disappear.

However, there is no reason to hate homosexuals. Almost no reason to hate anybody, really.

You'll be surprised how most are not how the news paints them; rather, they are regular human beings with feelings and likes, dislikes, friends, families, hobbies, careers, etc. (we'll ignore those few homosexuals that paint the media brush onto themselves because they have a lost identity. Alot of people paint the media's brush onto them because of identity issues, but that's another thread)

Once, I did not understand homosexuality (HS days). After going to college, I learned more about homosexuality through classes, personal relationships (friends coming out about their sexuality, including my friend whom I still love very much), and (surprisingly) the internet, and I have no problem with it.

In my post before this one, the part that says "dislike = fear" SHOULD ACTUALLY READ "dislike =/= fear"

No matter the issue, we need to learn how to discuss them.

Have you ever seen a family properly function w/o discussion? I rarely do. Most of those families end poorly and with divorces.

The U.S. is one big family. It's time for us to come to the table and discuss certain matters so that we can improve as a county.

The media doesn't want you to engage in mature discussion, however. That's why homosexual talk has continued in the media for so long. What they present is not discussion; it's mud slinging (FROM ALL SIDES). The drama that the mud slinging brings fuels their views and their pockets, and it really needs to stop. For the greater good of this country, it needs to stop.

From your post, it seems that your real problem is against sensitive people and not against homosexuals.
However, the terms "gay" and "faggot" have numerous meanings, and one of their meanings IS derogatory.

Gay:
informal/offensive
foolish, stupid, or unimpressive.

Faggot:
usually disparaging
a male homosexual

You can't really blame people for taking offense to a word that is used to be offensive.
Especially when a part of their life is defined by the same term you use to offend someone with.
