What, are you gonna compare homophobia to hating being stuck in traffic or something?
I'm not because I don't have my head up my ass.

I'm saying that if you hate something you DON'T automatically fear it subconsciously and/or irrationally.
Well according to your picture, fear is the opposite of love. So if you don't love them obv you fear them duhhh
The sig that I'm wearin? Awesomely made by Skaren!
Also, I like annoying Americans by calling English football "real football" and American football "rugby".-Lost-Chances
I got it, but that seems to be where the hatred comes from.

Either that or gay basher. That seems like a more fitting term, but only if you've ever actually attacked a gay person. Otherwise, "gayhater" is more suiting.
Just chillin' like always.

Though I would agree that most of the hate comes from fear, I would suggest that fear is not the only source of hatred for gays.
Some could hate them because they do not agree with their lifestyle. Others could hate them because a homosexual hurt them in the past (emotionally and/or physically), and they are taking their anger out on all homosexuals. And then there are those that take the media's shallow portrayal of homosexuals (flamboyant guys or super-manly girls) for truth for all homosexuals and dislike what they see. However, dislike = fear.
For fear, the solution is usually more knowledge on the subject a person fears. This is true for homosexuality as well.
After people are educated about homosexuality, they can either choose to like it, dislike it, not mind it, or not care about it/forget it, and the fear can disappear.
However, there is no reason to hate homosexuals. Almost no reason to hate anybody, really.

I hate gays because homosexuality is shoved down my throat on a daily basis by the media.
I'm tired of hearing about gay this, gay that.... oh this guy is special because he is gay.... gay gay gay...
Nobody fucking cares.
Everyone on the planet has a sexual preference.
Get over your selves.
It makes gays look bad when they have to overinflate their ego about anything they do.
I just took a shit.... and I'm GAY SO LOOK AT ME EVERYONE.
First gay man to take a shit in a gas station bathroom, I'm special.
They told me i couldn't shit here because I was gay but i did it anyway, lololol
...and makes me hate them.
Really has anyone called you a homophobe for hating gays?
Broncos are second in the AFC with a 7-3 Record, Losing to the Rams 7-22

You could just, you know, ignore them
You realize that the media only portrays them that way because there's still plenty of people that actively hate gays right?
If anything the media portrayal of gays is still too stereotypical
Hating an entire group of people because of how the media portrays them is just fucking retarded
Why don't you get over yourself and stop acting like it's a big fucking burden for you?
Fear and hate sort of go along hand in hand....
I mean if I was afraid of being lit on fire, wouldn't I hate being lit on fire?
My logic has a tendency of getting me getting stuck in the middle.

What if I told you that everything you just posted regarding homosexuals...

I'm just saying, media depiction of homosexuals =/= homosexuality in real life
That has to be the stupidest fucking reason to hate something
I'd be happier if you were a religious nut or something, you just come across as a cynical self-absorbed douchebag

Maybe if people, homosexuals + heterosexuals alike, and the media would just shut the fuck up about it, people would hate them a lot less.

Popular opinion have shifted immensely in recent years because people are willing to talk about those things
"If we ignore an issue, it will magically disappear" is a flawed way of thinking that has NEVER worked for any social issue in the history of the world
If you're stupid enough to hate something just because people talk about it a lot, then I just don't know, just idk

Hence homo- = same and Sexual = sex
I would encourage you to not let the media win and to meet a few homosexuals.
You'll be surprised how most are not how the news paints them; rather, they are regular human beings with feelings and likes, dislikes, friends, families, hobbies, careers, etc. (we'll ignore those few homosexuals that paint the media brush onto themselves because they have a lost identity. Alot of people paint the media's brush onto them because of identity issues, but that's another thread)
Once, I did not understand homosexuality (HS days). After going to college, I learned more about homosexuality through classes, personal relationships (friends coming out about their sexuality, including my friend whom I still love very much), and (surprisingly) the internet, and I have no problem with it.
ALSO, since Newgrounds does not have an edit feature (fail NG):
In my post before this one, the part that says "dislike = fear" SHOULD ACTUALLY READ "dislike =/= fear"

I agree with Entice:
No matter the issue, we need to learn how to discuss them.
Have you ever seen a family properly function w/o discussion? I rarely do. Most of those families end poorly and with divorces.
The U.S. is one big family. It's time for us to come to the table and discuss certain matters so that we can improve as a county.
The media doesn't want you to engage in mature discussion, however. That's why homosexual talk has continued in the media for so long. What they present is not discussion; it's mud slinging (FROM ALL SIDES). The drama that the mud slinging brings fuels their views and their pockets, and it really needs to stop. For the greater good of this country, it needs to stop.

It's also evolved into a sort of thought terminating cliche which can be used by the pro-gay camp to cut off debates about the positives and negatives of accepting homosexuality culturally. When a pro-gay person uses "homophob +" to describe someone they're responding to, it's usually a sign they haven't actually been paying attention.

No
But passing judgement on an entire group of people because you're annoyed with how they're depicted in the media is pretty damn stupid, in my opinion

I have plenty of other reasons why I hate homosexuals, also.
Being annoyed by them can effectively summarize what I mean... but its a bit more than just people talking about them.
They get offended when I use the word 'gay' or 'faggot' in casual conversation.
"Oh that dude is such a faggot"
literally means nothing different than
"Oh that dude is such a douchebag"
but heaven fucking forbid you use faggot or gay to describe something pejoratively!
Words change meanings all the damn time....
Gay and faggot didn't even start off as insults....
The times have changed.
gay:
happy -> homosexual -> lame as fuck
faggot:
bundle of sticks -> cigarette -> homosexual -> douchebag
context has a lot to do with what you say.
If i say the toaster is being gay... I sure as fuck don't mean that the toaster is in love with other toasters of the same gender... so don't get all butthurt about it.
At 9/21/13 07:23 PM, Raab wrote: They get offended when I use the word 'gay' or 'faggot' in casual conversation.
Oh come on, of course random people are going to get offended if you use a word that they perceive as insulting to their way of life...
And again, you're just making a silly blanket judgement. Not every gay person minds if you use the word faggot or gay as an insult every once in a while, and some do it themselves. If you get shit for it you're probably taking it too far anyways

You are right.... not all gays are like that.... but I never said that I hated all gays, either.

I can't agree with you on this point.
From your post, it seems that your real problem is against sensitive people and not against homosexuals.
However, the terms "gay" and "faggot" have numerous meanings, and one of their meanings IS derogatory.
Gay:
informal/offensive
foolish, stupid, or unimpressive.
Faggot:
usually disparaging
a male homosexual
You can't really blame people for taking offense to a word that is used to be offensive.
Especially when a part of their life is defined by the same term you use to offend someone with.
Lol.
Again, your problem seems to be against sensitive people (or people that you THINK are sensitive), not homosexuals.
