nintendo got frustrated that people online were putting out better games than they've put out in the last ten years, so they went on a cease-and-desist spree of anything mario related that wasn't licensed.
Nintendo sucks dick and doesn't love the fanbase of their games, and the American intellectual property system is a huge fucking joke, so Tom had to take down every Mario-related flash game on the site in order to save himself from incurring the wrath of an enormous legal squad.

The same thing stated above applies to those too.

It's highly unlikely that they're coming back.

The longer I spend on this site, the more amazing it seems that Tom didn't succumb to depression long ago.
Unfortunately, Nintendo is a company that can't bear to stand by when someone makes a derivative work with their characters. That's unfortunate because they have a long history of creating engaging and imaginative video game characters which many beginning animators often tap into.
I can't really blame Tom for his decision to remove the games. Legally, there isn't much he can do. He could make a case that all of the sufficiently creative and original flash content which only make use of a character's likeness are actually fair use derivatives.
But this also means that there will be less "Mario vs Sonic DBZ Naruto OC Donut Steel" sprite battles. I'm alright with that.

For now, but for how long?
Also, a few questions...
1. Is Nintendo going after any other Nintendo-based content on Newgrounds? Metroid, Zelda, Pokemon, SSB series, etc.?
2. Is Nintendo going after the Romhack people as well? The link goes to a site entirely devoted to SMW hacks, for starters. Other games have been hacked as well.
3. What are those specific games being targeted? All of them? If we had a copy of the list, we would know better which ones to try and save.
Feel no mercy for me. It will only cause you to suffer as well.
