Really? You think WWIII is most probable now? Not when the Soviets shot down a Korean airliner with a US Congressman on board? This is the kind of attitude I was pondering. People seem to look highly on the past, look low on the present and even lower for the future because if anyone were to say "things are going to get better" he'll be written off as naive and unrealistic whereas anyone were to say "things are going to get worse" no matter how ridiculous the premise will be hailed as a prophet by a large group of people. The majority were not part of them, hence why Nixon won so easily. THe thing is, as time passes people become nostalgic, they remember the good and forget the bad. We've always had bad politicians, we've always had crises, but we've always pulled through. In fact all of the diplomacy since the 1970's has been examining the long periods of peace and how they lasted so long and applying those same principles to the modern world hence why we haven't had a WWIII.

That's not how credible nuclear threat goes.

Nuclear matter +way to detonate that matter + way to transport that matter = credible nuclear threat. An Al Qaeda operative with a spent rod in a breifcase on a plane is a credible nuclear threat. China and Russia both have nuclear warheads on ICBMs. I'd say they are both well past being a mere credible nuclear threat even without each other.
