From now on, all children should replicate it by sneaking around weird buildings and snapping the necks of the workers or stabbing them in the head. Because they're bad guys. They work for the bad people.

I'd rather want to see Pac-man projected into reality.

Are kids going to start painting themselves yellow and proceed to eat people?

The grandmother was shot, not the parents. Read the article.

Cars kill people every day! We should ban cars too! And knives! As a matter of fact, you can kill someone with your hands! Let's ban fists!

The boy cannot be charged with a crime because of his age, the sheriff's office said.
USA is a fucking joke.
To be honest, the Arabs have the right idea, they'd have beheaded the little fucker, for murder.

Well then...we have nothing more to discuss here. Move along.
There is plenty to discuss, you fascist cunt.

Oh fuck you!
This is what happens when you have bad parents not doing their job. This kid literally gets away with murder and he isn't charged because of a technically.

Not much of anything really, because he's been disbarred for years and even when he was still a lawyer, Thompson was still well-hated through both the gaming {obviously} and most sections of the non-gaming community. It's just the soccermoms and fringe politicians who made most of the white noise. Because he's been discredited many times over, Thompson will continue to be irrelevant even if he does start a shit storm.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

I lol'd when I read the title of this thread, I can't wait to see the media react to this one.

I'm using myself as a self-example, so yes, I was baiting for reactions.
I played all this stuff and never even kill animals!

I mean shit - my parents didn't even let me watch the Simpsons until high school.
Where were the kid's parents while all of this was going on?
Yeah and why was a loaded gun with the safety off within reach of a small child? They should be talking about gun safety and responsible gun ownership instead of blaming videogames.

Also, I like annoying Americans by calling English football "real football" and American football "rugby".-Lost-Chances
Why did he have access to a gun and this video game?
You guys seem to ignore that. The kid doesn't know better than older people of the consequences. This "free" pass shouldn't benefit him but face harsh punishment.
Sexy Yes? I would think so :3

Psycho? Did you even read the article? The boy was playing with a gun and accidentally shot his grandma.

The child told investigators that he accidentally shot the woman while playing with a firearm, WAFB-TV reported.
But evidence has led investigators to believe the child intentionally shot her in the back of the head as she watched TV, it added.

I don't see where the article says he hits his friends in school and was constantly left home alone.

It's time to learn how to use Ctrl+F and find the word "intentionally".
"the town of Slaughter, Louisiana is in shock..." Really? The town of SLAUGHTER, is shocked at a homicide? Hmm...
Also, that little boy probably really was just screwing around with the handgun when he shot her, granted that our violence hyped media isn't exactly helping the situation, he wouldn't have been so curious about the gun if he'd been playing Angry Birds as opposed to something like GTA. Who bought him GTA anyways, like seriously, did his parents even check the damn game out before buying it?
If there is one thing we should be teaching our Gun owners, its basic gun safety. I'm sick and tired of these fucking stories, its always the same, some dumbass kid gets his parent's fire arm that was just lying out on the table and shoots his parents/self/siblings/friends and its a massive tragedy, but it was no one's fault but the irresponsible gun owner's. Its not the game's fault, its usually not even the kid's (unless it was done out of anger/spite and per-meditated), its squarely on the Gun Owner's (usually the parent's) shoulders, whose gun should have either been on them, or in their gun safe, something a lot of people don't even have. All you need is a drawer, safe or really any secure container that you can slap a lock onto. But NOOOO, lets just leave it on a high shelf or better yet, just inside an insecure drawer next to our bed. Yeah, our kid is smart enough to know not to mess with it...

It's the grnadma's faullt, you shouldn't leave a firearm out where a small boy can reach it.

When it comes to violent behavior like this, you have to ask yourself, what combination of social, biological, and psychological factors combined to cause this kid to murder his grandma.
Genetics can influence the likelihood of these kinds of episodes (biological) through either a specific set of alleles in his genes, or damage to the brain.
Social factors, such as being bullied, being a bully, being socially isolated and ignored, or any other form of social neglect and abuse, may have pushed him into an angry spiteful weird state of mind.
Finally, and ultimately, it becomes a question of how all the previous two factors affect his mood and influence his cognitive processes (psychological).
The bottom line is this. The vast majority of us can handle the amount of stress that life puts upon us just fine, and even if we aren't just fine, we probably won't go murder someone over it. For a small minority, certain stimuli in the biopsychosocial realm can push people over the edge. Even completely normal people, if the stress comes mostly from the psycho-social area, can be driven to murder.
As outside influences really do have an effect on us, never just assume that it is a problem with the parents, the kid himself, but take into consideration what is wrong with the social aspect too, the people, or substitutes for people, who influence the killer into justifying the act.
This isn't all that surprising when you consider this is what they were living in:
Muh boy gone n' killed my aunt mama! I just hope he didn't steal muh whiskey again or he's getting a real asswhoopin'!
