I'm sure you're all aware of this already, but for those of you who are living under a rock:
AR-15 kills a boy and his father
'...killed a Tennessee father and his 12-year-old son on Sunday...[A] firearm discharge, which investigators said triggered the fire as well as the explosions that ensued, but it remains unclear what else contributed.
Henderson County Sheriff Brian Duke said Terry York, 48, was showing his loaded AR-15 to a family friend in the back room of his wooden mobile home when it [fired] and a small fire was ignited...triggered explosions "one right after another" in minutes'
I suppose guns really do have it out for people.
Just an 02er.

He lived in a mobile home and had an AR-15?
lol, what a redneck.

Far too often we have heard of people dying because of improperly handling their firearms....
When will we learn?

guess he stroked it the wrong way and it didn't like it, like rubbing a cat on the belly (most don't like it and will claw you for trying)
What I wanna know is, "what exploded?" trails don't explode for no reason, and several explosions going off one after another tells me someone just won a Darwin Award.
I'm not crazy, everyone else is.

I really hope Americans are getting sick of reading shit like this every fucking week and can rally up enough public support to crush the NRA morons who keep stalling a sensible debate on gun control laws. How many more people need to die? It makes the whole country look terrible.

your statement is ironic try 5 million plus NRA members thats quite a voting block not to mention GOA and other gun rights groups.
How many more people need to die? It makes the whole country look terrible.
well the average is 25-30,000 people yearly in a country with a pop of 315 Million thats not to bad.

It was my understanding that the country has been debating gun control laws day-in and day-out. What you probably meant to say is, "... the NRA morons who keep disagreeing with my position on gun control laws." Debates happen when two or more parties have differing opinions, and I would say that gun advocates have been encouraging them (probably because they actually have empirical evidence to support their message).

When you compare that with the entire continent of Europe which has about double the population, you'll be surprised. I'd bet that that double population has less gun related deaths than the US does.

Perhaps, but how do other crimes stack up to the USA's crime rate(s)?

The key question that isn't asked ever is: How many of those gun deaths are just from random accidents or school shootings and how many are homicides due to crime / gangs?
I suspect that the overwhelming majority of gun violence is simply due to crime and gun legislation would have little to no impact of those homicide rates.
As for the other deaths, well: Hundreds of kids die every year due to backyard pools.
http://www.poolsafely.gov/drowning-deaths-injuries/
Where is the outrage?
Pool ownership is not even constitutionally protected, why are we allowing to have them? The per-pool rate of children death is probably way higher than the per-gun rate of child death.
Remember when a kid dies in any shooting how everyone is SO OUTRAGED AND SAD?
If the media decided, they could simply stop reporting school shootings and instead focus on backyard pool accidents and paint a picture of deadly pools while school shootings would be quickly forgotten and dismissed as rare and non-threatening events.
Next time you see those shitlickers on the news talk about another shooting, remember the pool statistic. Remember that they are not spending weeks and weeks talking about it.
Remember that the media is biased and never has nor ever will represent reality. Check the facts for yourselves, don't listen to them for anything but a broad sampling of daily events.

You just don't get it, do you? Most NRA members want some sort of gun control, but the problem is that most of the anti-gun lobbyists want far more than what is considered acceptable. The NRA has millions of members and allies who have a lot of influnce on lawmakers, and they are pretty dead-set on keeping the laws where they are, which really isn't a bad thing.
How many more people need to die? It makes the whole country look terrible.
Because of an isolated incident that most people will forget about it in a week, tops. There are other countries that have higher rates of violent crime that doesn't include guns, and you don't bitch about that. Quit trying to shove your good intentions down people's throats, which is what these gun control nuts do.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

Oh, I'm sure.
Not that I support gun rights, but if we're going to allow civilians to carry firearms, they should be taught to handle ALL firearms as if they were bombs that were about to detonate.
All firearms should be handled that carefully.

Exactly, when you don't have gun control the death by guns skyrockets because people buy legal guns to go kill themselves with.

Yes just crushing a rights organization like the NRA and adding more useless legislation whicjh is either already in effect or impede on law abiding citizens regardless that criminals will still get guns.

The NRA isn't a "rights organization", it's a right wing political lobbying group for Gun Manufacturers. In the last gun debate they opposed every single proposed piece of legislation, even the parts about background checks which most NRA members agreed with, probably until someone came up with some argument against it. That kind of stuff only sounds like it's trying to oppose every single regulation so that selling guns is easier, not necessarily bearing arms. Now that would still make a rights organization, if it weren't for the 60's. You see the modern Gun Rights movement arose from the far left, it was people like Malcom X and the Black Panthers who were getting guns to arm themselves because they felt the government had violated their inalienable rights and used their right to form militias to rectify the issue. They found some laws in the books saying they can show guns in public and did just that so that they can make their political statement. This is the same argument modern gun activists put forward, so the NRA should've done a once in a lifetime thing and teamed up with them right? Nope the NRA instead worked with Governor Ronald Reagan and wrote Gun Control laws then passed them. Yes the NRA supported Gun Control at this point. Which is ridiculous and only shows what the NRA actually is, just a right wing smear organization, of course it supports the right to form a militia, just as long as it's right wing. If you're left wing and you feel you've been wronged and feel like you need to form a militia they suddenly turn pro-Gun Control. I mean just looking at their ads makes me think "Wow, is this how stupid Liberals look like when they're making ads? Or is the NRA just that stupid or at least aiming for stupid people?". It's not the worst lobbying group out there, but it's definitely full of shit.

I heard about this story and had no understanding of it. I thought AR-15 was the name of a drone or something that accidentally killed someone. Yes, I know that has happened, but at least it wasn't the case in this scenario. Hopefully, we'll never pull a Dr. Strangelove and do that with larger weapons.

How terrible of me trying to shove good intentions down people's throats haha, how dare I try and get you to think about a real problem that costs people their lives. This is not an isolated incident, it is symptomatic of a broken system in the US that keeps producing stories like this. When tens of thousands die every year you think the best solution is to do nothing?
Again, why did they throw out legislation that would impose mandatory background checks? It's hardly imposing on anyone's second ammendment rights, and the vast majority of people supported it.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. Some other quotes.
Broken system? When there's several hundred million of anything in circulation, it isn't exactly, and forgive my rather poor choice of words here, a big deal in the grand scheme of things when some accidents and malicious acts happen. While yes, to those who have personally dealt with these ramifications, that cost seems much steeper, but when such a small percentage is used in a destructive manner, how exactly can you justify punishing the other 99 for the actions of 1? Those tens ouf thousands won't miraculously be living if it wasn't for firearms. They would off themselves other ways (Let's be real, that's by far the majority of where that tens of thousands come from) or kill in other ways. The best solution is not to do nothing, but it also is not to either ban or severely restrict what the 99% can and cannot do. I suggest we actually address the root causes of most of the problems from firearms, which would be education, poverty, and mental and emotional well-being.
Again, why did they throw out legislation that would impose mandatory background checks? It's hardly imposing on anyone's second ammendment rights, and the vast majority of people supported it.
Eh, because those mandatory background checks are closing "loopholes" that weren't anything but misnomers and a lot of people don't feel like they should ask the government permission to do what they wish with their personal property. The wording of questions plays a huge role in how the question is worded. "Do you think the government has a right to force you to go through them to sell your personal legally bought property?" would get a lot different of a response than "Do you think we should have more effective gun laws that don't infringe on personal freedoms?"
Not to mention it would make selling firearms a complete bitch if the check isn't instantly approved.

I really hope the arrest and interrogate the gun to figure out his motive.
Oh wait...A gun is an inanimate object incapable of killing someone..
