Forza 5 incomplete! 2013-08-17 01:14:20 Reply

There comes times when every gamer needs to put their differences aside and stop companies from hurting gaming as a whole. I don't care what platform you game on or what your a fanboy of this is a threat to all of us if this goes through. Microsoft and Turn 10 have recently announced that Forza 5 can now be played out of the box but heres the catch, you need to download dlc in order to complete the game. You can't tell me that there wasn't enough room o the disc for the rest of game, there using blurays so theres absolutely no excuse to what there trying to do. You would think they'd learn from the mistakes capcom made but no, they actually somehow made it worse then capcom did with MvsC3. We need to let microsoft know that its not ok to release a game unfinished EVER! Get on there twitters, facebooks, google +, Everything you can and tell them to not doing or you wont buy the game( we have to get loud and vote with our wallets).

I don't plan on ever getting an Xbone, but as a fan of Forza Motorsports, this rustles my jimmies a bit. A game shouldn't be released until it is absolutely finished and the player can actually complete it, with DLC adding new content onto it, not stuff already locked on the disc or parts of the game that should have been there in the first place. Yet this seems to be the norm when it comes to developing a game now. The fact that they are doing this when the console isn't even out yet doesn't help.

And unrelated, but I am super jealous of that guy's L4D posters in the video.

On one hand, the launch DLC will be free, so while it's an annoyance, I don't see it nearly as bad as Capcom.

On the other hand, I agree that the whole, "Release the game incomplete and patch the rest in later" thing is getting out of hand. To be fair, this is not the developers fault, nor their decision, this is the decision of the publisher, they want to see a return on their investment as soon as possible, and will force developers to release games in a incomplete or even broken state just to rake in cash early, and I've no doubt that-that is exactly what is happening here, they want the game to launch with the console, so they are sacrificing development time just to milk some more money out of customers at launch day.

Personally, I love the Forza franchise, always have... But given all of the ludicrous things Microsoft has tried to pull, and how they could so quickly turn around and say, "Hey, we reversed everything we said a week ago that we couldn't reverse"... I have no plans to ever get an XBox One...
In turn, sacrificing Forza... Which honestly... is the only XBox exclusive I care about anymore anyways.

Also, I'm aware Microsoft could have been aiming for a digital cloud based gaming service much like Steam... But if they were, they sure as hell did a horrible job saying so. They advertised all of the restrictions without any justification, as if the general public would just figure out on their own what they were trying to do. And it cost them dearly.

Regardless... I am greatly disappointed to see such a great franchise fall like this, to be pushed into releasing the game in an incomplete state.

Its sad that things like this are trying to be justified by people on deviantart, like when people were defending Diablo 3 being always online. I'm jealous of blackbustercritic's l4d2 posters as well.

Its a shame to see a once decent franchise fall to corporate greed, look what happened to killer instinct.

Yeah, I don't see the problem, you already need to connect to XBox Live at least once to patch out the DRM on the console, so I dont see the problem.

The problem is this is supported they'll do more of this and may try to implement more drm without telling you.

It isn't DRM. The content just isnt on the disc and that could be for many reasons.

theres no excuse for the rest of the game not being on the disc, there using blu ray discs which have 50 gigabytes on them so theres no excuse there

I get the argument that you are supposed to be buying a fully functional game, but at the same time, who gives a fuck? You have to connect to the internet once on the XB1 anyway so you might as well download the thingy for FM5.
