We have a problem. After some disturbingly expert stalking that I do on competitors now and again to make sure nobody's cheating, I have just found out jvonm has indeed been cheating. His Round 1 submission was posted before in November 2012 on another site and the same with his Round 2 submission which was posted before in June 2013. Screenshots have been taken in case jvonm takes down the evidence. Of course, as it says in the rules, each track has to be made from scratch for this competition during the 2-week deadline. We've disqualified him, no question about it.

But this left us with a different question - what about his Round 1 competitor, @Slug-Salt? At first, Echo and I thought it was a pretty easy decision; let Slug-Salt through to Round 3, because if jvonm was found out in Round 1, Slug-Salt would have made it to Round 2, and because Wolftacular didn't submit, he'd make it to Round 3 automatically as well.

And then, @Wolftacular, you posted in this thread. What happened to you was an honest mistake and in normal circumstances we'd strongly consider letting you through - now jvonm is disqualified and Slug-Salt is technically supposed to take his place, so the matter becomes more complicated.

At this point we've decided that if Wolftacular can beat Slug-Salt's average Round 1 score of 6.74 with the submission he's working on right now, then he goes to Round 3. Otherwise, Slug-Salt makes it through to Round 3. This seems like the fairest option.

I have to admit I'm kind of sad that his pieces were invalid because they were quite good. However Step's solution definitely seems fairest to all. Good luck to Wolftacular and Slug-Salt!

Yeah, that sounds like a right fine plan. If there's one thing I can't stand it's a cheater. And after I gave him such a thorough review, too...

I'm just glad that he was caught and disqualified before things could go any further. Onward and upward!

Anyway, thanks for the opportunity to participate! Hopefully the hatemongers will get my music some more attention. Either way, though, best of luck to the rightful competitors who'll be taking my place, especially Wolftacular, whose work I particularly admire. If I stick around for next year, I'll be sure to brush up on the rules beforehand.

Well, he definitely did something stupid there, but at least he is being honest, recognised it and accepted the consequences like a man.

Sorry I thought I was going to get it done today, but I need a break off so I can hear it with fresher ears. Tomorrow I'm 98% sure I'll have it done. I think I work pretty good under pressure...funny because there's clock ticking in the song.

Just had my first chance to really sit down and write on the motif I'd done up the other day. Should be posting sometime late 26th or 27th. Discovered I clench my jaw while writing/focusing since its super sore compounded on wisdom teeth removal-sore.

Personally I'd be a lot more peeved off if you'd have been stealing other peoples' work, but like you mentioned, a huge part of this is the pressure we all receive trying to bust out songs in just a couple of weeks. That is basically the point of the competition, because then we're all under equal pressure in our deadlines with the same opportunities in the competition in which to be artistically creative and make our entries. If you were unsure about a rule, it's always urged to contact either Step or Echo. I have had to myself, with Step anyway, and I must say that he was nothing but helpful and clear.

That said, it would be great to see you in next year's competition! ^ ^
