I know the movie exists and the sequel's been announced this month, but I JUST got into this show and was disappointed to learn that each season is six episodes. This show had me laughing my ass off compared to the US version, which wasn't funny for me at all. But dang it they could have kept the show going strong for a while or something.Hell, even make a series of them in university or some shit.
Because we dont run them into the ground
They made a film - which was probably pushing it anyway. Three series is enough.
I actually liked The Inbetweeners but I didn't realise it was so short. It never felt like it got old to me but at the same time, it seems like the kind of show where if they kept going they'd probably just end up repeating the same jokes a lot.

but 3 seasons isn't running it in the ground! they could have at least had 2 more.
It's kinda tradition in Britain to stop making new episodes of awesome comedies after a couple of seasons, so that they die on a high
examples
father ted
inbetweeners
fawlty towers
the young ones
However tbh I think they could stretch them out for longer

It's not running into the ground, there are just many factors involved.
2-4 series is considered to be a successful run for most British comedies, we like'em short and sweet.
Let me kill your thread for you, it wasn't all that interesting anyway.

UK shows just tend to do that. Inbetweeners may be short but every episode is amazing, if they were to drag it out more there'd inevitably be filler between the actual good ones. Another factor is that the actors who play Simon and Will are pushing 30, so they wouldn't be able to convincingly portray 17 year olds for much longer.
Take a look at Peep Show, amazing for (at a push) the first 4-5 seasons, then it goes massively down hill. I can rewatch the Inbetweeners again and again and still laugh my ass off, almost every line cracks me up, but had it been planned to be longer it would've been spread thin. You're always better off keeping it short and sweet to provide maximum density of awesomeness.
