Man Deliberately Crashes Into Crowd

A man deliberately crashed his car into Venice Beach, injuring 12 people, 2 critically. One of those critically injured is believed to be a 4-year-old.

Witnesses said the man crashed into the crowd "with intent" and was moving purposely. It is not believed to be an accident at the moment.

I'm wondering how one of the victims being a 4 year old effects the situation.

In general, people are more upset when a person who dies or is seriously injured in an accident or attack of some type is a child. I know that sounds silly, but it's the truth. Whenever a child of an attack or an accident dies, they always emphasize in the news story: "several people died including a child." I've read stories about accidents where 20 or 30+ people died, and they will emphasize: "at least 30 dead, including one teenager."

If he just wanted to end his life, why crash his car in front of a bunch of people? He will know he'll kill or injure a lot of people.

Also, if you see the footage online it is extremely obvious that he crashed his car into the crowd intentionally. He was driving fine and then turned and ran over people. He was also charged with murder, and he was smiling when he committed the plowing. There is absolutely nothing to indicate that it was an accident.

That would be hilarious If he was like talking through cellpone on that beach, and accidentally turned the streering wheel with his elbow and crash into those people, and then he'd smile because he remembered something funny.

It's the whole "Wow, they didn't get a chance to fully experience life" type of mindset.
If an adult or old person dies, it was a loss, and people were sad.
God forbid someone dies before 18, especially in the U.S. It's tragic then.
