Old people are better than young people. When I'm in an area with a lot of older people, I feel safe. Also, old people are generally more down-to-earth and more open minded than some young people, or at least the ones I've interacted with. Young people are more likely to be stupid, ignorant, and are more likely to cause violence.

Yeah I agree. Old people can be fun and interesting.

They're rude
They walk too slow
They crowd the isles at H.E.B.
They smell bad
They're conservative

But to be fair, the old people I interact with were probably assholes when they were young too

I know what you mean.
They act like they own the place. They break the right of way at light, they break the flow of traffic on the highway and cause accidents, and they can be pretty dickish.
There are some cool old people, but I seem to only encounter the dicks.

I am also willing to bet all those old people did that and learned from their experiences. This is why they as OP said down to earth since they already did all their living when they were young.

I know this guy named Bruno who is a good friend of mine. We only meet once a year at this party, and we talk politics. He was just young enough not to be in the Hitler youth and he survived the air raids on Hamburg.
I presume you've never heard any old folks talking about foreigners, gay people, "kids these days" and how things used to be?
Generally speaking, they're really no better than young people are in my experience. Those good and bad traits you mentioned are present in all layers of society.

Labels suck, but it's more or less true. Liberals and conservatives both suck, because it's either or.
