It was directed by Bo Welch, and edited by Don Zimmerman, which are both notable names in Hollywood. I'm sure most of us were rather young when it came out, in 2003. I was 10, and I believe I first saw it when it first came out on DVD.
Many people said it sucked. Some think that it is a disgrace to Dr. Seuss. A friend of mine considered it "nightmare fuel." However, the movie features a few funny jokes by Mike Myers, and some decent acting from Alec Baldwin, Kelly Preston, and Dakota Fanning. The effects in it were interesting, and you have to admit the movie itself was very colorful. Every scene was filled with fluorescent colors and everything was happening so quickly at once, as if I just snorted a bunch of Pixie-sticks and drank a large cocktail of Mountain Dew with melted Cabbage Patch Kids.
Also, the movie ended with Smash Mouth's track Hang On.
Overall, it was an interesting and unforgettable movie. No, it was not a masterpiece, but it kept me entertained. 5/10.
What did you think of it? Did you think it sucked, or did you love it, or were you indifferent to it?
i never saw it, but the lorax movie was pretty good
It seemed really lazy with the writing, like it was relying on Mike Meyers doing silly voices, random things happening, and pop culture references.
Not the worst thing in the world, but I don't think I could watch it all the way through.
I remember seeing it, i really liked it.
I still have it on VHS.
I got a good laugh out of it.
Broncos are second in the AFC with a 12-4 Record, Win against the Raiders 14-47

Mike Myers pretty much saved the movie.

True. Mike Myers is one of my favorite actors and I think he did pretty well as Cat in the Hat. He's so funny.

seems kind of biased

Has he ever reviewed something he likes? Maybe he has, but all of the only reviews I've watched from him were negative.

It's never biased if it's true, and sometimes he does rate other stuff with praise.

You can't do that, though. You can't just rely on a good actor and give him nothing to work with. If the writing is decent, a good actor can save it, but the writing for that movie was pretty terrible.

Yeah, I guess the writing in CITH was a bit haphazard and corny. They definitely had a sloppy screenplay, but I guess the only things that made up for it were the jokes in it.
I'd rather stick with the old Cat in the Hat cartoons.
