Ok, here's how you do it:
If somebody is convicted of a firearm crime, they aren't allowed guns anymore AND their kids and grandkids aren't allowed guns either! (assuming they are in their still in their parents care at the time) That way, the chain of irresponsible gun use is broken.

Not only does this prove effective, it also satisfies my urge to punish the irresponsible by taking away their privileges. My lifelong endeavors towards being responsible are finally validated!
