I got arrested yesterday

I was driving along to get to somewhere and I came up to the police station. There was a stop light just in front of it, and I got caught up in it. When it turned green I took off, and I'll be fucked a police car t-boned me going at least 30-40. I was luckily unphased but the right side of the company truck was fucked up, and the police officer was ballistic.

I was arrested and tossed into the station jail before I could even explain myself, and I had to spend the whole day and much of this morning in there. It's bullshit because it was green for me and red for the cop, so it was pretty much 100% his fault, and as it turns out, he wasn't even heading to a call or whatever, he was just patrolling around looking for trouble. I really can't believe it took them a whole day to figure out what had happened right in front of their own station, but I don't really care at this point.

I'm not gonna sue or anything, mostly because my boss doesn't really care about the truck, it was a piece of shit anyways. It's messed up too bad for us to toss it in the shop and fix it up (our company has it's own shop and a few ameture mechanics, and we just fix most of our vehicles and equipment ourselves) and he's too much of a fucking tightwad to send it to a body shop, so he's just gonna scrap it and buy a new one.

But damn, I'm still pissed that he was able to do that and get away without any kind of punishment.

You deserve it. When the light turns green you're supposed to check to see if it's clear before you take off. Depending on your area, the cop may have not actually ran the red light, considering that if even a little bit of your vehicle is in the intersection when it turns red you are considered making the light in time.

Also some police will waste your time if they feel like it esp. if you give them attitude or they are in the wrong;happened to me when a cop pulled me for my tags that were up to date, but he thought they weren't

Unfortunately there'd be no way for you to prove it if you wanted to bring it to court.
Installing one of those cameras on the dashboard would of course solve that problem, but I suspect it doesn't happen frequently enough to be worth the time and investment.

I know 2 other people who were involved in car accidents with law enforcement, and it was the law enforcer's fault, and both people were given the run around because the officers claimed, "Our lights were on, we were heading out to ____ and you were supposed to yield to us bla bla bla" But no, they weren't. That is such BS. Their lights weren't on, they weren't going anywhere. They were driving like jackasses and blamed it on the civilians. No charges were filed, but still shenanigans were experienced.

And I have plenty of friends who are cops/first responders/soldiers--no issues with authority here. But unfortunately you have some that abuse their power.
