Those would be New York City and Los Angeles. Both cities are big, cosmopolitan, expensive, and unpredictable. Both cities have their pros and cons.
I was talking about this the other day, and people who have traveled to both seem to prefer New York.
NYC has a lot of historical landmarks and culture, while Los Angeles generally lacks in this. NYC is known for Broadway, while LA is known for Hollywood. NYC is known for its famous pizza, while LA is known for arguably the best Mexican food you can find outside of Mexico. NYC has Times Square, while LA has the Staples Center. LA has Santa Monica and Venice Beach, while NYC has Coney Island. LA has UCLA, while NYC has Columbia University.
Which one do you prefer?

And LA isn't? Even though LA has a lot of good things going for it, it is one of the smoggiest cities in the country, and probably is the #1 smoggiest. It has one of the worst public transportation systems in the country, while NYC has an excellent one. LA has a higher crime rate than NYC.
LA has awesome weather though.
LA at least then i can easily retreat to the mountains and be above that cesspool.
I would go to Nyc and try to pull off an authentic Brooklyn accent. The bitches will love me

you get used to the smog rather quickly
i've only been to la twice and it never really bothered me (and i have asthma)
new york city is just a smell you can never get used to and navigating the city is a nightmare
in la you can easily take a rental and see the city (highway system is pretty decent - almost as good as DFW)
you won't be so lucky in nyc

I have a form of asthma too and yeah, I could agree the smog can be easy to get used to for some people. I've been to Shanghai, which is totally ridden with smog, but I learned to get used to it. The few days I spent in LA County, the smog wasn't too bad, but then again it was cloudy.

What does it smell like exactly?

Makes sense. Also, NYC isn't known for having a lot of natural beauty nearby, but there may be some pretty beaches around. Central Park might be nice. However LA has a lot of mountains nearby, and a pretty coastline. Also, you can't beat having Big Bear Mountains.
Los Angeles is like if a mexican stepped on part of New York City and scraped it off on the beach

LA may be more geographically appropriate for me because of the local produce and the i5 can connect me easily with family- that'd be pretty awesome.
But New York would be much more accommodating to my lifestyle in way of making friends and going out to eat. It's tough.
Meh. LA. Realistically. For reasons mentioned before.

you did go to France right? so what Paris vs Houston, Sekky
Neither, people go the big city because they think they'll find what they are looking for there, but in reality everything they want is never really far away.
Food for thought.
If you stop glorifying them you'll find the rent is too damn high, the air too damn dirty, and the people too damn busy or frustrated.

What's wrong with El Paso? It's an interesting border city, but it does get super hot there.
They are both disgusting places to live. I wish to breathe, so none. Honolulu is the place to be for ultimate happiness and tranquility, but a city life.

what isn't wrong with el paso
my main problem with el paso is that it feels like being in mexico
there is nothing texan about el paso

Texas was a part of Mexico, remember. Also, what's wrong about it feeling like Mexico? I know Mexico is violent and dirty at all, but El Paso is one of the safest cities in the country due to its strict border control and efficient police department. Also, Mexican food = yums.

it's not anymore for a reason

texas is better

go into any el paso supermarket or cielo mall and you'll see how 'clean' it is
you'll see nothing but mexicans without shoes and a general lack of upkeep

At least Mexicans have tasty food, hot women (sometimes), and... yeah. I'd say the Mexicans are a boon to the US. The gang member types can get the fuck out of here, but most of them are decent.
Been to both, but NYC reminds me of dirty legos bunched up together with a plethora of people and taxis. NYC just makes me feel claustrophobic in certain areas; i feel LA is more spread out and has better climate and less snotty people (depending on the area)
