One that comes to mind is Bayonetta's Version of Fly me to the moon I started saying once you've heard this it's hard to go back to Sinatra.
Another one I liked is Joe Crockers version of a little help my friends. Fucking Wonder Years man!

You may be fast on the roads but it's no use on the track.

Where the Streets Have No Name (I Can't Take My Eyes off You) by Pet Shop Boys.
Those who do not learn from the mistakes of their past are doomed to repeat them.
I liked Christian Scott's version of The Eraser, original by Thom Yorke.
That would be my most definitive answer. Otherwise I like a whole bunch of covers. Wave has many amazing covers - namely by Paul Desmond and Oscar Peterson - and is just a beautiful composition overall.
Oh, and then there's Funk in Deep Freeze - Chet Baker, original by Hank Mobley.

It's definitely a great cover. I was not expecting Bayonetta to have as an enjoyable soundtrack as it actually does, not to say that I prefer it over the original, but it's damn good nonetheless.
I do however, prefer Johnny Cash's take on "Hurt" more than the Nine Inch Nails original - the lyrical content almost perfectly reflects Johnny Cash's personal troubles as well as his mature and croaking vocals delivering a much more poignant performance (in my opinion) than Trent Reznor's original vocals. I know it's an obvious choice. Oh well.

Sinatra wasn't even close to the first to perform that song.

..But Trent Reznor made the original. Cash's song was a cover too.
I agree with OP, Bayonetta's fly me to the moon is really good.
Anyhow, i really like Coldplay's cover of Lips like Sugar.

Late blooming is cool, because now I get to fuck all my enemies old girlfriends. So, in closing, suck my mutha fuckin dick yo.
I've honestly never preferred a cover song over the original. The reason is quite obvious, songs are personal. The song was written by that person for the purpose of describing their feelings at the time and the passion conveyed through the melody and vocals reflects the creator. Others can decorate a creative spin/take on the song and try to make it their own, but it never will be.
Other than the already mentioned Johnny Cash-Hurt, it is the ONLY exception to the rule. Music video makes me swell with manly tears.
Authority Zero's cover of Mexican Radio, originally by Wall of Voodoo.
