Rebecca Black's Label's New Artist

So there's an artist named Kenny "The Thrill" James, an artist in his early 20s, who makes pop music. I guess you could consider him a rapper, but he sings more than he does rap.

He released a song under the record label ARK Music Factory, entitled "Party Like the Rich Kids." ARK is the same label that "Friday" star Rebecca Black used to release her song. ARK also directed, produced, and filmed her music video for Friday. Afterward, James decided to leave ARK Music, but it seems to be unknown what record label he uses now.

About half of the feedback and thumbs were negative, the rest liking the music video. However on the PLTRK's trailer, many people made negative comments on it. At least 90% of the votes on that video are negative, with many people saying the trailer was stupid, they predicted the music video to be stupid, and they hated the deep narrator voice saying "it sounded like a little kid making his voice deep." They were unaware of who Kenny James is, so they thought he was a young teenager pretending to be smoking and drinking, despite the fact that he was 21 sharp when in that music video. Also, some people found it strange how at the end of that trailer, that the narrator said "amen," which is what you usually say after a prayer.

Many people despised the music video. One person said that he didn't deny that James has talent, but said the song and video was too "poppy and gay." Many people also denigrated the Will Smith look-a-like for the poppyness and "gayness" of the video, but a significant amount still liked the song and video, either one of them or both of them.

So seeing as Rebecca Black was obviously one of the most despised artists of modern music, Kenny James seemed to be the fresh new student. However, seeing as he's not part of the controversial record label ARK, he may be doing "big things" now and could make a new track that will blow your fucking brains out.

So Kenny James: yay or nay? Does he have potential?

The weird thing is that all of his activity on Twitter and YouTube was from over a year ago. His website for his record label Po-u-Lar doesn't seem to have any recent activity and its message boards are totally spammed with spambots. It seemed like after that, he never had any activity online with his regular accounts. There was also an article from March 2012 that said he "won't be forgotten" and "will be missed." It sounds like... he probably passed away. Hope not, because he's pretty young, but then again nobody on YT said that he's dead.

I have known about Merzbow since 2006. I've always found his stuff to be pretty cool, and I kinda like some noise music.

I don't know, I thought you were one of those guys that was into him. However, I've never met a person in real life who knows who Merzbow is, but I've known a few people online that are aware of him. While I haven't heard of most of his stuff, I actually like the "Hummingbird" EP a lot. I also liked the stuff he did with a Japanese band called Boris. dunno if I've listened to White Lights.

there's only two people i know irl who could get into his work and one of them surprisingly thought it was good lullaby music
the track i mentioned is at the end of 1930 since i've always preferred his much more longer 20-30 minute long pieces, next on my list is rainbow electronics
recently got into boris and sunn o))) like two weeks ago
