There's a guy named Efren Carrillo who's a supervisor of my county who was arrested recently. I've seen him speak in person, and I thought that he seemed like a diligent person who was eager to make our community a better place. He graduated from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor's degree, and he seemed to be a well-spoken person.
However, a few nights ago, Carrillo was arrested for burglary and prowling. He was drunk at 3 in the morning in his apartment complex, and tried to break into the window of a woman's apartment. After the woman called police due to a burglary report, the police apprehended the county supervisor on a sidewalk as he attempted to flee. He was shirtless and wearing only underpants and socks. The case is so well known now that it got attention from UK's Daily Mail and other international news sources.
Many people in my county are outraged with his behavior, and request that he must resign from his position immediately. Many people also think that if he is found guilty of the charges against him, he should serve time in prison. There are actually online petitions that ask Carrillo to resign. The news articles also suggested he attempted to break into the home to commit a sexual assault on the woman, and that could bring more serious charges against him. The supervisor was released on $40,000 bail the day after it happened, and is currently in a rehab center.
Keep in mind, he has been arrested nearly a year ago after being involved with a fight outside a bar in San Diego. The man he fought was unconscious after the attack, and Carrillo was charged with battery. However, the charges of battery were dropped.
Do you think that he should resign now because of the allegations against him? If he is found guilty, do you think he should serve time in prison? He truly lost much of our community's hope and trust for him, and now we think he's a POS.
