you're missing your down frame.

Ok so there are a bunch of really important bits in every walk cycle and as long as you have them you're pretty much golden, everything else is mainly just tweaking them and adding character to it.

So ok, first you want what's called your Contact Frame
This is the frame of animation where the front foot first makes contact with the ground. The front leg is extended, the back leg is extended out the back. The front shoot should generaly be only making contact at the heel.

After your contact frame, your next frame is what's called a Down frame.
In the down frame, the foot is now completly touching the ground, and the front leg is bent, the back leg is completely outstretched with only the toes touching the ground, it's important to make sure that as the front leg bends, the entire body moves down with it. (Hense down frame)

Then we have passing frame.
In the passing frame the front foot is now directly under the torso and fully extended (so the torso/head moves up) and the back leg is bent, completly off the ground passing the front leg.

Lastly we have the up frame.
The front leg has now traveld behind the torso, the foot is on it's toes pushing up, the entire torso/head is pushed up further (hense up frame) And the back frame (now front) is extending out getting ready for the contact frame.

rinse repeat.

Hope that helps.

Instructions are good and everything the last guy said was valid, but try looking up some videos of people walking on treadmills or something similar and using them as reference. It helps you really understand the walk/run cycle.

Here is a good run cycle reference, for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZZZKwN05Z8

I just decided that I need a signature.
