4.07 / 5.00 13,902 ViewsI recently finished a new game and had it sponsored with a primary sponsorship.
As permitted by the contract, I uploaded a brand-free, site-locked version to Newgrounds.
I'm also allowed to sell additional branded versions to secondary sponsors, as long as they're site-locked, and I'm relying on this as a major income channel for this game.
Today, I was shocked to discover that a sponsor, who previously wanted to pay me for a brand-free version locked to their website, simply embedded on their website the SWF hosted on Newgrounds. Apparently, site-locking as I know it, only regards the hosting domain, not the webpage domain, which makes it useless against anyone with even a tiny bit of brain.
How can I prevent this?
How can my SWF know the URL of the webpage in which it is embedded?
A few more details:
I coded my game in ActionScript 3.0, using Flash Builder 4.5.
Also, I'm aware of ExternalInterface, but a person embedding an SWF can easily prevent it from interacting with webpage JavaScript.
Ask about this in the Programming Forum, or even in the Flash Forum... it's likely someone else has also run into this problem.
