It's an interesting article to read about something we take for granted...
Iodized salt.
I didn't realize that iodization of salt was no longer mandatory in India.
"But in July 2000, only two years after passing the code, the Indian government repealed it -- surrendering to pressure from the highly vocal small salt producer's lobby, as well as to widespread arguments that mandatory iodization was coercive, unfair and an act of multinational exploitation. "
I believe that people need to be more educated about science.... boring for some but years of progress go down the tube when no one learns it.
