3.98 / 5.00 20,598 ViewsSometime ago I started manipulating the 2a03 and MMc5 chips to make hip-hop music. It began as an exercise to keep my creativity flowing between major compositions and projects - but I ended up really falling in love with the concept. Over the past several months I have been compiling a 6 song EP of original chip hop songs and I was finally ready to release it yesterday.
All music was composed using Famitracker and lightly touched with Audacity. Many of the songs are not on my Newgrounds account, and the exceptions have been remastered for the EP.
Please, download the album for free - I would be delighted if you were to give it a listen. If you enjoy my music, feel free to also check out the soundtrack for a new Pico game soon to come that I have been working on with Luis and Sam published yesterday as well.

Thanks to everyone who takes the time to listen, I apologize for the post redundancy - but I was uneducated about the album posting rules at the time of the first post.

Thanks for checking it out man. Im really glad you enjoy it. I have messed around a bit with vrc6 and the n163 chips but I end up composing with mmc5 more often than not. The amount of channels in vrc6 is appealing though!

I gave you my review then (in Peter Satera's group) and it isn't changing now: it's a really solid EP with quite the high production standard, and apart from a few minor misgivings I had, I enjoyed it quite a lot.

I appreciate all the support, and the kind words man. Especially since you are not usually a fan of the medium. Cheers!

Chiphop is kill...
No...
This is really good. The bass is what really owns it. Props for using a program/daw I've never heard of. And coming out with this thing.
Gengclops. Lol. Funny name. Because clop.
Anyways thanks for these awesome beats!
Comparing to NG Chiphop/step/8bit :
5/5 all around. Especially for making me nostalgia quite a bit. Made me think of games like : Mario underwater level, dragon warrior, and some weird space shooter game that I can't remember the name of.
Props again!
very cool! liking your DPCM and noise channel work a lot!

I'm really feelin it. A lot of the tracks are just real chilled out. How long did it take you to compose something like this on famitracker?

Well famitracker is my primary electronic composition software, so it doesnt seem as tedious to me as it did when I first picked it up. The length of time it takes me to compose varies really, but most of the songs on the EP were written in two dedicated sessions where time was lost to me.
Thanks so much for the listen and the kind words!
