Best Flash Settings? 2013-05-29 11:26:32 Reply

Hi

I just wanted to know what the best configuration of a new Flash Animation file would be. This includes the sizes and which type of export to use both for Newgrounds uploading and Youtube.

Thanks

One thing you will want to make sure you do is have a higher frame rate than 12. If you change the framerate of the animation to somewhere around 18 FPS, it will look much smoother. It would require more frames of animation, but it will well be worth it.

Also, it is best you change the sound quality too. Go to File, Publish Settings, Flash Tab, Click on the Set button next to "Audio Stream" and "Audio Event", then change the Bit Rate to 160 kbps or as high as you can, and make the Quality "Best".

Another thing you should be careful about, is not to use Movie Clips or Buttons if you are going to upload it to YouTube. Movie Clips and/or Buttons will corrupt the AVI video and make it unwatchable.

So, that is my advice.

24fps is the average framerate for animators.
Stage color, the default is white. But some people use darker colors like greys etc.
Stage size, HD 1920 by 1080. It looks the best when you're done.

As the guy above this response, you need to have a fluent 24 frames per second.
For rough animation I would suggest that you have the background colour a mid grey so that you can see all the right colours like whites and other colours, the stage size should be 800x450px which is a full hd setting.
