Hi! I am working on a website project. it's far from done I just wanted to ask around to see how much people would charge to
make me game kind of like Mk 1 and street fighter 2 for website. I'll make all of the sprites myself.
how much would that kind of thing cost?

So you would do the artwork and the person would do the programming, design, and testing? Assuming that you would get someone else to do your sounds and music a reasonable charge for an entire game that is comparable to Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter would be a few thousand dollars depending on the complexity of the game.

Designing, developing, and testing a game takes many, many hours. Even at $20.00/hr for 50 hours, which is an incredibly cheap rate and very conservative time estimate, would cost $1000.

I'm not sure how much the going average rate is, since it's on what the company feels.
But from what I've seen in Canada the lowest hourly rate is about $40 per hour and go as high as $150 per hour.

The engine would take a week or two or more (depends on the platform and if based on something pre build), and mapping the hit test areas will take some time as it has to be mapped to each sprite on a sprite sheet.
