My brain about exploded o_O They played a snid-bit on the radio of the new STP song and it my brain was so confused but it sounded interesting enough at least. I'm a huge fan of LP, always have been, and STP is alright I guess... I wonder what this cross-over will mean for both bands?
What are some of your favorite cross-breed (cross-over) bands?
Also, here is the song they were playing pieces of: Out of Time - STP
Its really meh sounding.
Chester Whatshisface from Linkin Park is no Scott Weiland.
As someone else stated in a similar thread not that long ago, this just seems like a "hey guys, look at us we're not dead yet" type of move. Obviously Chester doesn't really fit in that well (imo) since the band operates a different style of sound. It will be interesting to see if his style rubs off on them and they start to sound more like LP. Either way I never really cared about Stone Temple Pilots and I'm probably not going to start now.

He made Life + Death in 2011 then stopped.
So idk.
Singer Allen Russel (Symphony X) + guitarist Mike Orlando (solo artist) + bassist John Moyer (Disturbed) + drummer Mike Portnoy (most known from Dream Theater) = Adrenaline Mob
I thought it was going to have a Symphony X meets Dream Theater type of sound, but they went full hard rock with a Disturbed meets Mike Orlando sound - not quite up to my expectations, but good nonetheless. Russel's singing and Mike's drumming are still incredibly kickass though.

I feel the same about STP, maybe they'll get some new kind of groove that is actually unique and not so bland for their genre. Not saying they're not talented musicians, they just sound like everyone else from that time period when they were "big".

oh man i forgot about that! i love all of their collaborations with other people. i think it's because they really respect music and people's different interpretations of what music is.

UGH.
"Man, I nearly snapped my twig. Then again I nearly snapped A few of you"- Alice in Chains
I lost a lot of love for Linkin Park when they switched from Nu Metal to Techno Pop, but whatever makes 'em happy.
Anyway, I don't know much about STP, but I've heard 'em before. My honest opinion? I have no idea what they're thinking. The music the bands play respectively are very different, although that doesn't really mean anything to the quality of the music.
I'm not really sure what to think of it.
